Amou Haji, 87 years old, currently lives alone on the outskirts of the small village of Dejgah, in the desert of Fars Province, southern Iran. For the past 67 years, Amou Haji has not bathed and has been dubbed “the dirtiest man in the world.”
His skin is covered with a thick layer of grime made from dirt and dead skin, his eyes nearly obscured, and the smell can be recognized from a mile away…

Mr. Haji has not bathed in over 60 years because he believes that being clean will make him ill. He enjoys catching hedgehogs and eating them raw, sometimes grilling them for a change of taste.
Amou’s only “treasure” is a nearly 8cm long metal smoking pipe. Although he is addicted to smoking, Amou has no money to buy cigarettes, so he fills the pipe with dry animal feces, lights it, and smokes it!

Occasionally, villagers give Amou food. No one knows why he has chosen this lifestyle or why he hasn’t bathed for decades.
Mr. Haji has now become the longest-running non-bathing man in the world. Before him, Indian man Kailash Singh, 66 years old, held the record for not bathing for 38 years.
