Recently, he gained even more fame by creating a real-life Squid Game competition with prizes amounting to billions of Vietnamese Dong. However, there are quite a few dark sides to Mr Beast, and there are many facts that even his fans may not know.
Dropped Out of College, Started YouTube at Age 13
In fact, Mr Beast’s YouTube career began when he was just 12 years old under the name Mr Beast 6000, focusing mainly on the game Minecraft. Nearly a decade later, Mr Beast has achieved tremendous success, and even his old videos have been revisited by fans, garnering up to 10 million views.
However, few know that Mr Beast only attended college for two weeks. He dropped out and told his mother, “I’d rather be poor than go to class. I don’t want to do anything other than YouTube.” At that time, Mr Beast had to move out after not receiving his mother’s support. But that was also when he had one million subscribers. Shortly after dropping out, Mr Beast returned home and gave his mother $100,000 (approximately 2.4 billion VND).
Accused of Employee Abuse
To manage his YouTube channel, Mr Beast has hired around 50 different employees. However, not everyone has a good impression of this boss. According to Matt Turner, who worked for Mr Beast for over a year, “I wasn’t credited for anything; he always gave credit to others. Besides insults, there was nothing else.”
Nate Anderson, another employee of Mr Beast, even made a video discussing the worst week of his life – the time he worked for Mr Beast. The video even led to him receiving numerous threats from Mr Beast’s fans, forcing him to delete it.
Often Causes Controversy with His Statements
As one of the famous names, Mr Beast frequently stirs up controversy and has a large number of anti-fans, all because of his somewhat outrageous statements.
Accordingly, Mr Beast has used very vulgar language to talk about the LGBTQ+ community, even offering $10,000 for comments that supported his call. Additionally, Mr Beast often criticizes other individuals and streamers.
