Yesterday, VTV24 News Center reported on the case of a young gamer who committed suicide by pesticide. The exact information was published by VTV on the Facebook page of VTV24 News Center as follows:
“On July 19, the Intensive Care – Poison Control Department of Children’s Hospital in Ho Chi Minh City reported that doctors had just saved a 13-year-old boy from Hau Giang who was in critical condition due to drinking pesticide. According to the family, he was angry at his father for not buying him a phone after the school year ended as promised, and the patient drank pesticide. He stated that he had consumed about 200 cc of pesticide.

Upon arrival at the hospital, the patient exhibited lethargy, stupor, cyanosis, weak breathing, increased mucus secretion, and both pupils were constricted to about 1mm. As of now, after nearly a week of treatment, his condition has improved, he has been taken off the ventilator, is alert, and his organ functions are improving with acetylcholinesterase levels recovering positively.
After recovering, the boy expressed regret for his actions. This also serves as a reminder to parents to control their words towards children when angry, especially for teenagers in sensitive age groups. This can harm children and lead to negative thoughts.

Notably, recently, VTV has continuously reported on the current state of gamers. Last week, the Vietnamese gaming community was nearly in an uproar when numerous renowned names in the local gaming scene were highlighted by VTV as examples of various issues in online gaming today.
Gaming addiction, lack of content moderation, inability to control the age of gamers, unlimited playtime… and many other issues have been reported by VTV during its 19-hour news report. The names mentioned in this report, such as Arena of Valor, PUBG Mobile, Identity V, CS:GO… are all titles with large player communities in Vietnam.

This has also led to many consequences in the current young gamer generation, and one of the recent unfortunate cases has left many people concerned. Hopefully, in the future, there will be no more tragic incidents like this and that there will be no upheavals or turmoil in the Vietnamese gaming community in the near future.
