On the morning of March 15, in Thu Dau Mot City, the Inspection Department of the Binh Duong Department of Information and Communications coordinated with the provincial police to conduct a meeting with YouTuber Thơ Nguyễn regarding the posting of the video “asking for good grades” on TikTok.
During the meeting, YouTuber Thơ Nguyễn stated that she had posted 2 parts of a video with the content “asking for good grades” on the TikTok social media platform. Part 1 is the controversial video that stirred up the online community. Part 2 is a “clarification” video with children, stating, “this is a regular doll, not a ghost doll, to study well, you have to study hard, not just ask for it.”
According to Thơ Nguyễn’s explanation, due to TikTok’s policy of allowing only video segments with a maximum duration of 60 seconds, the aforementioned video was posted at two different times (not consecutively), causing misunderstandings within the online community.

Through the analysis of the content of the clips by the authorities, YouTuber Thơ Nguyễn recognized her violation due to unintentional actions. However, during the working session, she exhibited signs of poor health and mental state, so she requested the authorities to temporarily pause the meeting to rest and agreed to continue working the following afternoon (March 16, 2021).
Thơ Nguyễn’s real name is N.T.H.T (born in 1992), known as a YouTuber currently living and working in Binh Duong. This female YouTuber currently has 3 information channels online, including the YouTube channel Thơ Nguyễn with 8.7 million followers, TikTok Thơ Nguyễn with 900,000 followers, and the fanpage Thơ Nguyễn with 400,000 followers.

On the morning of March 11, in information to the press, Mr. Lê Quang Tự Do – Deputy Director of the Department of Radio, Television and Electronic Information (Ministry of Information and Communications) stated that the Department had coordinated with the functional unit of the Internal Political Security Department (Ministry of Public Security) to find Thơ Nguyễn’s address and phone number to invite her for questioning due to signs of promoting superstitions through her channels.
Previously, on March 10, social media was abuzz with a clip of Thơ Nguyễn talking to a doll and “asking for good grades” for young children – the female YouTuber who has nearly 9 million subscribers. The clip was posted on the TikTok platform from February 27, and by the afternoon of March 10, it had garnered 5 million views.
Receiving a wave of harsh criticism, Thơ Nguyễn subsequently posted a new clip, crying while explaining herself. She declared that even if she stopped being a YouTuber, she would still have enough money to live.
