Not long ago, the global gaming community was excited by rumors that Blizzard was preparing to launch another new game, expanding its already successful Warcraft 3 universe this May. According to initial information, this “blockbuster” mobile game was likely to feature gameplay similar to Pokémon GO, where players could directly go out to capture and train heroes from the Warcraft universe, and then compete as Pokémon GO players had done in the past.

However, contrary to everyone’s expectations, there was no sign of a Warcraft 3 styled like Pokémon GO. Instead, Warcraft Arclight Rumble was the product that this publisher introduced. Advertised as having spent over 20 years researching and developing this game, what Warcraft Arclight Rumble offered ended up disappointing gamers. With unimpressive graphics and gameplay that seemed to simply copy Clash Royale, which was released six years ago, Warcraft Arclight Rumble has been widely deemed as Blizzard’s “flop” of the century.

Although there have been some positive signals and information attempting to salvage the brand for Warcraft Arclight Rumble, such as focusing more on PvE than PvP – quite similar to Blizzard games like World of Warcraft – or confirming that there won’t be loot boxes exploiting players. However, the negative reviews from the online community regarding Warcraft Arclight Rumble still dominate. Almost everyone has expressed disappointment over this flop.

In fact, the wave of criticism escalated after it was reported that the development project for Warcraft 3 in the style of Pokémon GO had been canceled just to make way for Warcraft Arclight Rumble, as it was predicted that it would not provide stable revenue for Blizzard like that “flop”. Although there is no verified information yet, this has only fueled gamers’ anger further.
