From the beginning, whenever we mention Luffy, we refer to a daring young man with a dream of finding the treasure One Piece and a formidable family background. His grandfather is a Navy hero, his father is the head of the Revolutionary Army, and his uncle is a notorious Yonko in the pirate world. However, it must be said that throughout his journey to conquer challenges with his Straw Hat crew, Luffy has faced numerous troubles related to his powerful lineage.
First, we must mention the clash between Luffy and Don Chinjao, formerly known as Chinjao the Drill, who is a former pirate and the head of the Chinjao family. He participated in the battle for the Mera Mera fruit at the Corrida Colosseum. Chinjao’s bounty is at least 500,000,000 berries.
It can be said that Chinjao is the most vengeful “grandfather” in One Piece, as he holds a grudge against Garp, which leads him to resent Garp’s son, Dragon, and even his grandson, Luffy. He believes that the younger generation must pay for the actions of their predecessors. Chinjao encountered Luffy and asserted that if he had known Dragon was Garp’s son earlier, he would have prevented Luffy from being born. Believing that death is too easy for Garp, Chinjao instead wants to kill Luffy to make Garp live in despair over losing a loved one.
Most recently, there is the case of Who Who, a Tobi Roppo under the Yonko Kaido, who is also very angry and hates Luffy. The reason, as we know, is that Luffy’s uncle, Shanks the Red-Haired, stole the Gum-Gum fruit from Who Who when he was still a member of CP9. Due to failing to protect this Devil Fruit, Who Who was imprisoned for 10 years in Impel Down. Two years ago, Who Who was fortunate to escape from this prison when Luffy and Blackbeard arrived there. Now in Wano, upon finding out that the Devil Fruit he lost ended up in Luffy’s hands, Who Who is furious with the Straw Hat captain. Thus, Shanks stole the Devil Fruit, and now his nephew Luffy bears the brunt of the anger.
Because of this, One Piece fans believe that although Luffy is labeled as a “rich kid,” he does not receive support from his powerful relatives in One Piece and instead often faces unwarranted “wrath.” What do you think about Luffy being hated by Who Who just because he ate the Gum-Gum fruit that Shanks stole?
