More and more people are choosing livestreaming as a part-time job or even a full-time career. However, among the hundreds and thousands of streamers out there, if you want to succeed, you must always keep your energy up and bring interesting content to your audience. Otherwise, the risk of losing subscribers or having no donations after the stream ends will loom large. Above all, there are many ways a stream can go awry.
We have seen instances where streamers accidentally leak personal information while live streaming, as well as some situations where they give up mid-stream during a gaming session. But all things considered, perhaps the most awkward thing that can happen to a streamer is when they are passively live streaming, unintentionally “going live” without even realizing it.
This certainly shouldn’t happen frequently, but it is actually more common than we might imagine. Let’s take a look at some humorously awkward and downright embarrassing moments from famous streamers due to misunderstandings.
Ninja Worries His Viewers

One early morning in 2019, Ninja unexpectedly appeared live and immediately surprised and unsettled some of his viewers. To put it mildly, Ninja looked quite disheveled. He seemed to have just woken up from a deep sleep and immediately dove into his computer with bleary eyes and an exhausted appearance. Viewers began flooding Ninja’s chat with concerned comments, asking if he was okay or if he needed to take a break. Instead of responding, Ninja simply took a few sips of water to quench his thirst and continued typing.
It took Ninja a little while to realize that people were messaging him, but he seemed amused to learn that he had accidentally gone live. With a smile, Ninja told his viewers, “I really didn’t mean to click ‘start streaming.'”
Although still not fully awake, Ninja had a refreshing laugh. It was indeed a bizarre situation. He had no idea he had caused his fans to worry, but it certainly became a memorable moment.
Mizkif… Earning Money While Asleep

Mizkif is quite a talented and hardworking streamer, even appearing live while deeply asleep. Viewers found it hilarious and tried to wake this streamer up, with some starting to send donations attached with sound alerts on his Twitch. What finally woke Mizkif from his slumber was a viewer simply spamming the number “7” multiple times. Simple yet effective.
Mizkif heard a continuous series of “ting ting ting” sounds, he woke up and fumbled for his computer. He told the audience, “Yeah, I fell asleep. I literally passed out. You woke me up in a rather scary way.”
Despite the humor of this situation, it must be emphasized again that Mizkif was awakened by a spam donation. In other words, this guy was actually making money in his sleep, pretty wild, right?
Bethesda’s Super Awkward Livestream

Bethesda has caused controversies for many years, including Fallout 76. However, one of the biggest blunders from the company occurred due to a random test stream going public. During this process, Bethesda accidentally leaked information that was supposed to be highly confidential.
While rehearsing for the company’s presentation at the E3 2015 conference, Bethesda’s Twitch channel seemed to have gone live by mistake. Particularly, fans could hear the voice of Raph Colantonio, the director of Dishonored at Arkane Studios. Meanwhile, some other accounts reported they heard Colantonio discussing Dishonored 2 specifically with key members of the Bethesda team.
All the broadcast clips were subsequently taken down due to copyright claims, which somewhat confirmed that Bethesda would announce Dishonored 2 at E3 2015. And indeed, that happened. There’s really not much more to say about this situation – it was just too bad and too unprofessional.
