JVevermind’s real name is Trần Đức Việt, born in 1992 in Hanoi, and he was a well-known figure of the first generation of Vloggers in Vietnam. The nickname JVevermind is what he created when he was studying abroad in the United States. When combined, JV resembles a stylized letter N, meaning this nickname is Nevermind.
His unique and satirical vlogs on topics like being single, K-pop fandom, speaking English, and keyboard warriors… received immense love and support from the online community. In fact, JVevermind was once referred to as a ‘legend’ in the early days of Vietnamese Vlogging.
BRIGHT 20s
While studying communication in the United States, Trần Đức Việt began vlogging on YouTube. In a short time, his YouTube channel garnered 121 million views and 1.6 million subscribers. He was also one of the first Vietnamese YouTubers to receive the YouTube Gold Button, becoming a sought-after name for many major brands and collaborative business projects. The pinnacle of JVevermind’s Vlogging career was being included in the “30 Under 30” list by Forbes Vietnam in 2015. The following year, in 2016, he also made it to the “30 Under 30” Asia list by Forbes Magazine in the Media – Advertising – Entertainment category. In 2017, JVevermind won the Influence Asia 2017 Award for Best Personality.

Just as his career was flourishing, JVevermind unexpectedly chose the path of ‘going into hiding.’ He disappeared and completely ceased all activities on his personal page, social media, and YouTube. He shared that even while vlogging, he felt he was “missing something” in the platform, and if he continued, he would be ‘stagnating’, making it hard to develop himself.

During this time, he also experienced significant losses from family and a breakup with his longtime girlfriend Mie Nguyễn… All of these factors acted as a catalyst for him to decide to stop his Vlogging career. JVevermind did not appear in the media, did not release any new products, and his Instagram was “dusty” for a whole year without any updates. In fact, by the end of 2018, after a long period of being “frozen”, all content on JVevermind’s social media platforms quietly disappeared. Nearly 50 million-view videos on his YouTube channel vanished 100%. His official Instagram account was wiped clean and returned to zero posts. He officially went into hiding.
JV MAKES A COMEBACK, DRENCHED IN CINEMA AND THEN “DISAPPEARS AGAIN”
Despite fans clamoring for updates, it wasn’t until 2019 that the handsome young man provided updates about his current life. He focused a lot on personal experiences, traveling, trying out new jobs, and his passion for soccer. He shared that he did not want to get caught up in the cycle of money and fame but wanted to learn how to balance life and enjoy the values of youth.
JVevermind stated: “All the success from my Vlogging days is just old history. I want to erase it and remind myself not to ‘beg’ for the past.” Thus, for this comeback, he shortened his name to JV, as a confirmation of his “transformation”.
In October 2019, JV released the short film “No Human Footprints”, marking a new, gritty, and more mature age of 27. Notably, with “No Human Footprints”, JV took on four roles simultaneously: director, screenwriter, producer, and lead actor.

No longer the talkative vlogger of previous years, JV in the new film “No Human Footprints” is a successful businessman with profound philosophies about success and life.
Additionally, he also created a series called “Sleepless Weekends”. This is a completely new show in Vietnam, presented in a satirical news format covering hot social issues. The aim of the program is to help young viewers both entertain and increase their awareness of social, life, education, law, and world issues happening around them daily, in a humorous and satirical, light-hearted, and fun way. JV’s satirical vlogs, such as “4.0 Multi-Level Marketing”, “Youth and Stimulants”, “Normal Schools and Specialized Schools”…, received huge engagement with hundreds of thousands, even millions of views along with thousands of discussions and comments.
Along with that, JV also returned to the role of a reviewer for Local Brands from Vietnam and received great support from fans. As a reviewer, JV has shown himself to be a person of integrity and delivered the most objective assessments. From there, he received quite a bit of praise from the online community.
However, not letting fans rejoice for long, the 30-year-old handsome man disappeared again shortly after. The last vlog he posted was at the end of December 2020. Nearly two years have passed, and JV’s YouTube channel with over 2 million subscribers has had no updates whatsoever. The number of images shared on his personal Facebook during this time has also been extremely scarce.
Many people expressed regret for JVevermind, as he was at the peak of fame but did not take advantage of it to move further. However, he understands well what he wants and how he should choose. Hopefully, he returns soon to update his personal information to satisfy those who have loved and followed him over the years.
