Although the SEA Games 31 wrapped up more than a week ago, the names of the MCs who participated in this Southeast Asian sports festival are still “hot” and continuously sought after by the online community for their “in-person” appearances. One of them is MC Khanh An, who had the honor of hosting the live broadcast of the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang matches during SEA Games 31.

Overcoming Insecurities to Stand Confidently Under the Stage Lights
It can be said that Khanh An is currently a talented MC, always cheerful and full of energy, but going back to the past, Khanh An was a shy girl who only dared to quietly stand behind the stage lights, watching the glory of others. She spent two long years wearing braces to find confidence in herself, thus her path to becoming an MC as a journalism student was not as smooth as many would think. She “competed” in many programs and casting calls… but the results were only rejections and disappointment from herself.
“I was once rejected from 10 hosting gigs because after filming, I saw that my face on camera was not beautiful. If you notice, I have never hosted a program on the stage of the Journalism Academy,” Khanh An shared.
However, Khanh An did not let that hinder her passion. She always looks forward with optimism, envisioning a beautiful future. For Khanh An, it is best to treat unfortunate events as things of the past; what matters is how we react to what is to come, as the past cannot be changed, but the future can.
“Don’t feel insecure or pressured about yourself because of the shimmering images of others. I also have my share of failures and sad stories that the spotlight doesn’t shine on. I continue to move forward, even though I don’t know where those steps will take me.
Your future, and mine too, will not know how many times we will shed tears, but there will also be smiles, because life has its ups and downs. When we are not fortunate in one way, we will be lucky in another,” Khanh An expressed.

Khanh An always considers optimism as her guiding principle to strive and improve every day.
Stepping out of her comfort zone, Khanh An found her spotlight under the stage lights. Achieving such success is a result of hard work. From her first year in university, she worked at a media company to accumulate knowledge and experience. Not only that, but the young MC also took the opportunity to teach MC skills to those who wanted to become hosts. Khanh An has inspired many young people to rediscover their passion for hosting. Furthermore, this student is incredibly active, participating in many classes, competitions about MCing, and real-life stages to refine her hosting skills.
Continuous effort is the motto in Khanh An’s career journey. She believes that while she may not have been born with a natural talent for speaking, and may not be truly perfect, diligence and hard work are the keys to success. When home alone, this 10x MC often monologues to practice her reflexes and speaking in front of crowds. Moreover, Khanh An is also a member of the MC Club – a prestigious club at the Academy of Journalism and Communication.

Khanh An believes that persistent effort leads to success.
When asked: “If you could go back to the past, what would you most want to change about yourself?” she immediately replied that she wouldn’t want to change anything, whether joyful or sorrowful. For Khanh An, every event in the past has in some way influenced and shaped her into who she is now.
“I am very proud of the Khanh An I am today. The important thing now is that I will strive to become a better version of myself, to please those who love and always support me,” the 10x MC shared.
The Journey to Becoming an MC at the SEA Games 31
When invited to be the live MC for the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang matches at SEA Games 31, Khanh An couldn’t hide her emotions: she was both happy and worried. Khanh An was excited to have the opportunity to stand on such a large stage and participate in a program of this scale, but she was also anxious about whether she could fulfill her duties well.
However, after all, she remained very confident in herself due to having “accumulated” quite a bit of hosting experience prior. It can be said that Khanh An’s journey to SEA Games 31 was a “2-day journey” as all preparations from outfits, makeup, and hairstyling were wrapped up within just 2 days.

At SEA Games 31, Khanh An experienced countless memorable moments. One of them was the story of how she was “sought after” by fans from the Philippines right after her first hosting day.
“The caster and coach of the Philippines team taught me to say ‘Mahal Kita, Hadji’ (Hadji is the name of a popular player in the Philippines). At first, the Philippine friends told me that saying that meant complimenting Hadji for being very handsome, so I said it back friendly. When I got home, I saw the video recorded and shared on the personal page of Coach Bon Chan from the Philippines, I realized that the phrase actually means ‘I love you.’
This video led to me receiving thousands of followers and comments from fans of Mobile Legends. That was a memorable moment and affection from international friends that I think is hard to replicate, Khanh An reminisced.

When asked what message she would like to convey to young people aspiring to find their own “spotlight,” Khanh An expressed: “What I want to emphasize most is the way to overcome difficulties. The common challenge for young people is standing at the threshold of what to do next for a better life in the future. I too have never stopped looking for answers on how to achieve the life I desire as soon as possible.
If I were to speak about feeling tired and wanting to give up while searching for this answer, that would never happen. I might feel sad when things don’t go as planned, but I never tire or give up on this journey.”

In the upcoming time, Khanh An will continue her work at VTVCab, hosting and doing voice-related jobs. Besides that, she also hopes to focus more on developing her personal brand.
