As we know, in Genshin Impact, there are three types of levels, one of which is character level, currently capped at level 90. The second is adventure level, capped at level 60, and finally, the world level, which is currently capped at level 8. After nearly two years since its release, Mihoyo seems to have no intention of “lifting” these limits. Thus, at this moment, what players are most concerned about and discussing is when their characters will be able to break through the level 100 limit.

From the perspective of the game environment, this seems relatively feasible as the level of some monsters in Floor 12 of the Spiral Abyss has reached level 100, meaning that character levels have the opportunity to increase to level 100. Of course, this does not mean that this update will appear soon. Just look at Honkai Impact 3 – another intellectual property from Mihoyo, which has only upgraded its commanders. As for character levels, they are still capped at level 80. And since Honkai Impact 3 was released earlier than Genshin Impact, there’s probably no need to elaborate further. If what is happening with Honkai Impact is any indication, instead of choosing to push characters to level 100, Mihoyo is likely to buff some older characters to balance power.

And if the milestone of level 100 can be broken, many seemingly outdated characters like Keqing and Diluc would be able to “rise from the ashes” when given a significant boost in power, attributes, and basic stats. This is probably not something that Mihoyo desires too much, as new character banners are appearing more frequently and are increasingly favored by players, resulting in a significant increase in their income rather than trying to balance the powers of older characters.

For players, this would also have a significant impact on leveling characters to 100. On the positive side, older characters in players’ hands could finally see the light again, as mentioned in the cases of Keqing and Diluc. The improvement of the entire team would be quite substantial. Of course, on the other hand, the negative impact should not be underestimated, and the most basic and obvious issue is the necessary materials required to break through character levels. Regarding how much is needed, you can refer to breaking through level 90 to see how many times it will multiply when breaking through level 80. And with Mihoyo still relatively “restricting” the amount of resin and resources obtained, it will be extremely difficult for everyone to form a level 100 team.

In fact, many players are currently voicing their opposition to this idea. They argue that unlocking level 100 would mean Genshin Impact is heading towards a serious decline.
