The world’s richest billionaire, Elon Musk, has officially denied reports of a “brief affair” between himself and the wife of a Google co-founder. Elon asserted: “I work crazy hours, so I don’t have much time for shenanigans“.
Elon even likened the reports about the incident to “sandwiches”.
Previously, Elon Musk was accused of having a “fling” with the wife of Google co-founder Sergey Brin, Nicole Shanahan. The Wall Street Journal reported on Sunday (July 24, local time) that Musk had an affair with Sergey Brin’s wife, Nicole Shanahan, in December 2021, which ultimately led to their divorce.
The affair between Elon and his friend’s wife reportedly occurred around the time Musk – who has a total of 10 children from various relationships – welcomed his daughter Exa Dark, who is 7 months old, with singer Grimes.
The Wall Street Journal also explained that as a consequence of the affair, Musk – who has been friends with Brin for many years and is said to have borrowed about $500,000 from Brin during the financial crisis of 2008 – has stopped communicating with him. Billionaire Brin is reportedly considering selling his personal investments in Musk’s companies after the incident.
The Wall Street Journal reported: “According to those close to both men, tensions have been rising between the two men and their teams in recent months. Mr. Brin has instructed his financial advisors to sell his personal investments in Mr. Musk’s companies. It is unclear how large those investments are or whether they can be sold“.
The Wall Street Journal claims to have reached out to all parties involved for comments on the alleged incident, but all requests went unanswered.
Back in January 2022, Brin cited “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for the divorce and noted that December 15, 2021, was their official separation date. News of the alleged affair emerged just weeks after Shanahan stated that she hoped to proceed with the divorce with “dignity, integrity, and harmony“.
She stated: “I hope Sergey and I can move forward with dignity, integrity, and harmony for the sake of our child. And we are both working towards that“.
Musk took to Twitter to respond to the WSJ report, saying: “Sergey and I are friends and attended a party together last night! I have only met Nicole twice in three years, both times with many other people around. There was nothing romantic“.
