On the evening of April 28, social media was abuzz with a clip showing a woman with an aggressive attitude, repeatedly slamming her hands on the table and yelling at the staff of a convenience store near Thu Duc Law University.
According to the post’s owner, the woman in question is the mother of a boy who had gone to the store to buy a game card. However, the mother later returned to the store to harshly criticize the female employee for selling a 400,000 VND game card to her child, saying that selling snacks was acceptable, but selling a game card to kids for that amount was unacceptable.
The mother also questioned why a child was allowed to spend such a large sum of money without anyone questioning where it came from. She used several harsh terms to insult the employee, such as: “Greedy; trying to lure children in.”
It is known that the person filming the clip was a customer shopping upstairs and witnessed the entire incident. She posted the clip along with a comment: “I feel sorry for the staff who earn only 10 to 20 thousand VND/hour and have to deal with this situation.”

The poster of the clip also pointed out that the mother’s reasoning was somewhat misguided: “Kids in Ho Chi Minh City are not like kids in rural areas who have no money. If a child has that much money, we know where it comes from. But staff members can’t know the family background of every city child. They work in service, not as crime investigators, so how are they supposed to know if a child stole money from their parents to buy a game card?”
“Although the staff reported to the manager (even though the manager had already gone home) and informed the mother to return the next day for a direct discussion, she still refused and insisted on getting her money back immediately, even threatening to call the police and other things…”, the clip poster added.
Right after being posted, the clip attracted thousands of comments and shares. Most opinions harshly criticized the mother’s actions:

Although the outcome of this situation is still unknown, the mother’s unreasonable yelling and berating of the sales staff have continued to draw criticism from netizens.
