TikTok is not only popular in the Vietnamese market but also on a global scale. TikTok became the most downloaded mobile application in 2021 with over 656 million downloads. This is evidence of the app’s popularity and the number of users that TikTok has.
Not only viewers, but TikTok has also created a plethora of famous TikTokers. However, alongside the benefits, the app’s shortcomings have raised concerns among users. A series of contents deemed harmful, “dirty content” has caused public outrage. Along with that are lewd trends, even somewhat “perverted”, created by a portion of TikTok users.
From Famous TikTokers
TikTok users surely still remember in 2022 when TikToker Nờ Ô Nô sparked outrage in the online community with a series of clips titled “What the Poor Eat – Nờ Ô Nô Feeds Them That.” The derogatory remarks and disrespectful attitude towards the elderly made viewers extremely angry. Immediately after inciting public outrage, authorities and mass media strongly criticized TikToker Nờ Ô Nô.
Previously, TikToker Lê Bống also faced condemnation from the online community for a clip where she placed her phone to “hunt clouds” on a plane. The female TikToker stated, “This is the first time I speak out after the incident of filming next to the airplane window. Actually, I initially saw the clip as a trend on social media and filmed it without considering the consequences.”
I filmed this clip not to exonerate my mistakes but just to point out that if people continue to film clips like this, it will affect flight safety as well as endanger your lives and those around you.
At the end of 2021, when the pandemic situation was still tense, two famous female TikTokers engaged in actions of “removing masks” to film a dance clip at My Dinh Stadium.
Just recently, a female TikToker with a verified account made a series of clips that left viewers shaking their heads in dismay as she encouraged the act of “exchanging 18+”. Many people couldn’t help but feel disheartened by the actions of these famous TikTokers, whose ultimate goal seems to be merely for “views” and fame.
Even Ordinary TikTokers
Even ordinary TikTokers can create a series of deviant clips. In 2020-2021, many trends deemed very indecent emerged on the TikTok platform. The language, expressions, and images appearing in the clips were extremely harmful. What’s concerning is that these trends became popular and were shared and “covered” by many young users.
In mid-2022, a series of TikTokers filmed videos dancing in airport parking lots or even sitting on luggage conveyor belts. These harmful trends have caused TikTok to increasingly “lose points” in the eyes of users.
Recently, TikTok has been pointed out for a series of violations such as:
Ineffective control of violating content
Utilizing algorithms to spread clickbait and sensational content
Lack of measures to control and prevent business, trading, and advertising activities…

No measures to control copyright violations
No management measures to prevent users from misusing private images.
