The Spring 2020 Survival Arena of Free Fire concluded with a well-deserved victory for V Gaming. Before the Free Fire – Spring 2020 Survival Arena tournament took place, V Gaming was not highly regarded. All the attention was on the reigning champion Team Flash, as well as BOX Gaming and AFK from the hot streamer AS Mobile.
However, besides this championship, what Free Fire gamers are most concerned about is that this game aired on television last night, May 18, right after the news program at 7 PM. Specifically, the 24/7 Sports program reported on the Spring 2020 Survival Arena.

This is not the first time Free Fire has had the honor of being broadcast on national television. Previously, one of the events considered “significant” for the Free Fire gaming community was when this game was featured on national television VTV. Specifically, the friendly tournament of Garena Free Fire bringing together 8 teams ended yesterday, crowning AS Mobile’s team as the champion.

However, this Spring 2020 Survival Arena event is considered much larger than the previous friendly tournament of Free Fire. Like before, many “Free Fire” gamers couldn’t believe their eyes when they saw their beloved game aired on VTV, right during prime time after the news.

Interestingly, when aired on 24/7 Sports coincided with many families in Vietnam having dinner. This was a perfect opportunity for Free Fire gamers to show their parents that their game is also “not to be underestimated”. This shows the large and loyal player base of Free Fire. Although there are still mixed comments, it cannot be denied that this game has a strong appeal among local gamers, especially younger players.

It is also important to recognize that Free Fire is currently one of the most popular survival shooting games in Vietnam. However, this game also has many young players who are still in school. Therefore, it is not surprising why there are many comments from players about showing off to parents that Free Fire was aired on television.

Free Fire reached a revenue milestone of 1 billion USD at the end of 2019, with a series of records that many mobile games can only dream of. Free Fire was once a source of pride for Vietnamese gamers when compared to other survival shooting games. For those who don’t know, Garena Free Fire was released for Android and iOS in December 2017 by Garena Studios and developed by 111dots Studio (Vietnam).
However, recently, Free Fire has also faced intense backlash from local gamers due to increasingly pay-to-win mechanics, exploitative practices, and creating imbalances… leading to Free Fire receiving cold shoulders from its own gaming community.
