Studying and taking exams online is indeed convenient when you can complete your coursework without leaving your beloved room. However, that convenience quickly loses its value if you encounter bizarre situations like the student Sam Lee did.
This University of Georgia student had to send an email pleading with her professor to let her retake her economics exam after failing the previous one due to an unbelievable accident.
Sam Lee stated that she was eating a meat sandwich while taking the online test when a meatball fell directly onto her keyboard. Out of over 100 keys on the keyboard, it was unfortunate that it landed right on the Esc key.

At first, the girl was still distracted by her delicious sandwich because she lost a piece of meat, but only when she saw the completely blank screen on her computer did she realize the true disaster that had just struck – her economics exam was gone.“After that, I spent 6 hours writing an email to my professor and sent it last night.” She shared.
“Dear Professor Lastrapes,
During today’s test, I encountered technical difficulties and unexpected situations that affected the results. Something fell onto my computer and submitted the exam when I had answered less than half of the questions. That “something” I’m talking about is the unfortunate meatball that dropped right onto the keyboard while I was taking the test. That meatball caused several malfunctions on my laptop and submitted the exam before I had finished.”
Lee only scored 39% on her test, and being allowed to retake it was very important to her.
It seemed that the “ridiculous excuse” for her failure would be hard to consider, but surprisingly, the next day, the professor replied with a very sympathetic email.

“Samantha, this is indeed a fresh and unusual excuse for a poor grade. But with such a peculiar reason, it’s hard to believe you made it up.” The professor stated in his reply email. “I have extended the deadline for your module 6 exam to midnight tonight.”
The professor even added a “piece of advice” for her before the exam. “I recommend you take the test before or after dinner.”
Of course, Lee was “overjoyed” to receive a response from her professor, especially since she got to retake the exam “with a slightly better result“.

Her Twitter post about her bizarre situation with the meatball quickly attracted the attention of tens of thousands of netizens. Not only did it bring joy to many with this situation, but others admired her professor for being flexible and forgiving such a silly mistake – not many teachers would accept such an excuse for a retake.
Lee herself didn’t expect her situation to gain such attention. “Honestly, I was shocked to see it go viral like this.” Lee said. “Ironically, the brief fame I’m enjoying comes from a meatball.”
“Never trust a meatball no matter how trustworthy it seems.” She concluded.
