Xiao Zhang, an employee of a listed company, met his girlfriend Su Yan through a dating app. Although they had never met in person, he was always serious about the relationship and intended to marry Su Yan.

Recently, his girlfriend suggested meeting up to buy an engagement ring together. With an average income, Xiao Zhang felt hesitant because diamond rings are not cheap. His girlfriend encouraged him: “I know you don’t have a lot of money, but I just want you to do something to prove that you truly love me.”

To prove his sincerity, Xiao Zhang agreed to his girlfriend’s request. However, due to being busy, he couldn’t accompany her and could only transfer money to the sales staff instead.
After two transactions, Su Yan officially owned a diamond ring. However, she was still not satisfied, claiming that her father thought the ring was too small and pressured her future husband to transfer an additional 26,000 yuan for a larger ring. After a total of three transfers, the final ring was valued at 58,800 yuan (over 200 million dong).

However, immediately after that, despite trying every way, Xiao Zhang could not contact his girlfriend. At this point, he realized he had been scammed and reported to the local police. The scammer was quickly exposed. His dream lover turned out to be a man named Jiang, 24 years old, an employee of an advertising company.

Admitting to his intentional fraud, Jiang expressed deep regret for what he had caused and stated that he was willing to compensate for all damages to the other party.
