College has always been a dream, a destination, and an important turning point on the educational path of every individual. Holding a college degree often means a more open and easier future when applying for jobs later on. However, not everyone thinks this way, as exemplified by Alicia Breuer, a beautiful 17-year-old girl who is shocking people with her statement: “College is meaningless“.
Of course, Alicia must have some basis for making such a statement. The foundation she relies on is her ability to earn money online. Specifically, after just one year, by mimicking American pop singers, Alicia has gained over 750,000 followers on TikTok. Moreover, she surprised many when she shared her income, which is about 10,000 British pounds per day (equivalent to 323 million VND) – a figure that allows Alicia to confidently say that “College is meaningless“.
What’s more noteworthy is that Alicia’s ability to earn money online only really came to her mind about a year ago, when she faced many challenges brought on by the pandemic. Initially, Alicia chose to focus her TikTok content on fashion and makeup, but this was quite time-consuming. As she shared, creating a short 10-second video sometimes took up to an hour to prepare. By shifting to covering songs and imitating singers like Katy Perry, Drake, and Justin Timberlake, Alicia unexpectedly achieved unbelievable success, to the point where she even signed a contract with a well-known KoL advertising company and received many lucrative advertising contracts.
She confidently shares: “Currently, I can earn 10,000 British pounds a day and I will focus more on making videos. Don’t mention college to me, it’s truly meaningless. Most of my videos are not too time-consuming to produce, at most one hour.” Additionally, Alicia believes her income has surpassed that of her parents, but she is still not allowed by them to spend lavishly, so despite earning over 300 million VND daily, we do not see Alicia flaunting expensive luxury items or showing off like many other rich kids.
Of course, Alicia’s straightforward and candid remarks have received quite a bit of mixed reactions. However, most people believe that if her story, with that sky-high income, is true, then pursuing a college education doesn’t hold much meaning for Alicia at this point.
