For many people, gaming is simply one of the means of entertainment. However, in the minds of many gamers, video games are a way of life, the only thing that brings them joy, and they are willing to dedicate all their time and health to this passion. Of course, too much of anything is not good. A prime example is the story of the young gamer below, who, at only 15 years old, had to be hospitalized for high-level treatment and rehabilitation due to excessive gaming stress.

The boy in this story is named Xiaobin, a gamer who is only 15 years old and is currently being treated in Nanning, the capital of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region in China. Due to the pandemic, Xiaobin and his peers had a long break at home. However, instead of doing homework and taking time to rest, Xiaobin maximized every minute to passionately play games. According to the boy’s parents, there were days when Xiaobin sat in front of the computer screen for up to 22 hours, leaving him with only 2 small hours for eating, sleeping, showering, and other personal activities.

Of course, many people may criticize Xiaobin’s parents for not being attentive enough to him. But it’s hard to say, as the boy always explained that he was using that time to study online and complete assignments. Therefore, his parents were not overly concerned when they saw their son shut himself in his room to focus on “studying” all the time. Everything only came to light when Xiaobin’s parents found him unconscious in his room and quickly rushed him to the hospital.
At this point, the young gamer had to admit that his left arm had almost lost all sensation. After a CT scan, Xiaobin was diagnosed with paralysis due to a stroke. “The main reason is that the boy has an irregular eating and sleeping schedule. The patient’s parents also underestimated their child’s behavior. The lack of nutrition and rest led to anemia, oxygen deficiency in the brain, and caused the stroke” – the doctor stated.

At present, it is still uncertain whether Xiaobin can fully recover. And perhaps this is also a wake-up call for all gamers around the world. Being passionate about gaming is not bad, but everything should be done in moderation and with attention to one’s health. After all, having good health is having everything.
