Yesterday, a sad event occurred for the Vietnamese gaming community when many games were featured in VTV’s news program at 7 PM. However, it was not to praise them but to warn about gaming addiction as well as issues related to violence, horror, or content that cannot be fully censored by the publishers.

Many issues were raised by VTV, such as gaming at a teenage age can lead to addiction. Many violent contents are not strictly censored by the App Store and Google Play, as well as by the publishers. There is no control over the age and gaming time from the users…

Among them, a series of games were cited as examples by VTV, including well-known titles like Arena of Valor, PUBG Mobile, Identity V, and even League of Legends and CS:GO… Notably, Identity V is still mentioned as an example of horror, violence, and being unsuitable for young players. Arena of Valor was mentioned as a game where the age of players cannot be censored. Although it is categorized as 18+, VTV claims that there are many young players in Arena of Valor.

Many players believe that in the past, VTV also reported on the case of Free Fire was featured on the Sports 24/7 program (after the 7 PM news) to talk about the tournament of this game as well as the eSports movement in Vietnam. This made the “Free Fire” players feel very excited and happy. However, the recently mentioned games did not receive the same fortune.

This is also a factor that makes Vietnamese gamers feel “unfair”, with comments stating, “Free Fire is a shooting game, it is also violent, why isn’t it mentioned? Now it says Identity V is a violent game while it is an exploration game where you run away from monsters, cannot fight back, only resist when it catches you and rescue teammates, how can it be called violent?”.

Or some players say, “When the broadcaster chooses to report on a violent shooting game that is only for elementary and middle school kids to pay to play, but criticizes other games completely, it shows how upset Vietnamese gamers, especially those of the mentioned titles, feel.
It can be seen that last night, the Vietnamese gaming community experienced a wave of outrage. It is hoped that the Vietnamese gaming community will remain calm, reflect their voices in a civilized manner, and that there will not be any tumultuous events in the Vietnamese gaming scene in the near future.
