There was a time when Mukbang was one of the hottest topics, even attracting a massive audience on YouTube and other platforms. During that time, everyone was racing to create Mukbang clips as a way to become famous and rise to the top quickly. Although eating on camera has become more familiar now, and Mukbang is no longer a phenomenon like when it first launched, those YouTubers who have succeeded with it certainly possess a huge amount of interaction. However, this success sometimes comes at the cost of their health, as exemplified by Dorothy’s case below.

With a YouTube channel boasting 4.15 million followers, Dorothy is clearly one of the most well-known names on this platform. However, while she was consistently releasing videos, this YouTuber suddenly disappeared, not posting any new content or updates for four weeks. This led many to speculate that she might have unexpectedly retired. But just recently, all the questions were answered.

Specifically, in her latest post, Dorothy sincerely apologized to her fans for her sudden and mysterious disappearance. But everything stemmed from health reasons. On one fine day, for reasons unknown, her blood pressure unexpectedly shot up to 300 – a terrifying figure, and of course, Dorothy had to be rushed to the hospital immediately. Naturally, the number 300 that the YouTuber mentioned left many feeling skeptical.

Additionally, there are quite a few opinions suggesting that she should be more careful when making Mukbang clips, as it is clear that eating too much is not always a good thing. This also raises the long-debated question regarding Mukbang YouTubers: do they really eat all that massive amount of food, or do they use editing tricks? A notable example is the recent incident involving Bok-hee.

This suspicion has some basis, as it is evident that the amount of food is enormous, often greasy, yet we never see these Mukbang YouTubers gain weight. As for Dorothy, perhaps she should consider regulating her workload, as having a blood pressure of 300 is certainly no laughing matter.
