When mentioning NTN, many people immediately think of a YouTuber who is very famous but also causes a lot of controversies with content that often goes against the thoughts of many. From challenges that have been criticized as ridiculous and inappropriate, such as dropping knives from rooftops, dropping YouTube gold buttons, to spending 24 hours in a cemetery, NTN is often known as the “most mischievous” YouTuber in Vietnam. Recently, in a faraway land in the West, another YouTuber has also been dubbed as NTN’s version when he suddenly got inspired to do a challenge of throwing 100,000 packets of tissue into a pool to see if the paper would absorb all the water in the pool.

Specifically, the main character mentioned here is Tyler Oliveira, a fairly famous YouTuber with a YouTube channel boasting 600,000 followers. The year 2019 can be considered relatively successful for this guy, as he suddenly transformed from an unknown name to one of the fastest-rising YouTubers of the year thanks to engaging challenges that garnered millions of views. However, no one could have predicted that 2020 would start for Tyler Oliveira in the worst possible way, as he is currently facing countless criticisms for what he considers an “innocent” challenge after releasing a video titled: “Can 1,000,000 tissues absorb all the water in the pool?”

As it turns out, Tyler Oliveira threw 100,000 packets of tissue into the pool to investigate, and of course, the result was just a pile of tissues floating on the water’s surface. It seems that Tyler Oliveira thought this was just a harmless prank; however, in the comments section, many expressed outrage at this challenge, claiming it was both a waste of resources and left a negative impact on the environment. Nevertheless, this YouTuber continued to show his “stubborn” and “thick-skinned” nature with justifications like: “If you build a house out of wood, you have to destroy forests to build it, right?“, “The amount of toilet paper you use in your lifetime could be ten times more than this“, “Anyone who does nothing to protect the environment has no right to condemn me.” At this point, it seems like he has crossed the line.

The situation worsened as the number of critical comments aimed at Tyler Oliveira increased, and after realizing that things seemed to be spiraling out of control, Tyler Oliveira began to change his attitude, admitting that his idea was terrible and then shifting the focus to calling for support for donations for the bushfires in Australia. A spectacular “turnaround” from this YouTuber, but his reputation may never be the same again. And of course, for the Vietnamese online community, after witnessing Tyler Oliveira’s incident, the first name that comes to mind is NTN, as he also had challenges that many condemned regarding the environment, such as using 5,000 plastic straws and plastic cups to build a house.
