Nowadays, to identify culprits in criminal cases, investigative units often use the method of sketching the perpetrator’s portrait based on descriptions from witnesses. This greatly aids in quickly identifying the suspect.
Recently, an unfortunate thief sneaked into the apartment of a student named Xiao Xu to commit his robbery. Witnesses reported that he entered the living room through the balcony window around 2 PM. He then rummaged through the house looking for valuable items. But unfortunately for the thief, a neighbor saw him; he made a quick escape but could not outsmart the neighbor. With his fleeting memory, he described the thief’s physique to Xiao Xu, including height, weight, clothing, and more. Immediately, she sketched the thief’s portrait based on the description and provided it to the police. This became a crucial clue that helped the unit in their investigation.

The police immediately launched an investigation based on the physical characteristics of the person in the portrait. Shortly after, they successfully found traces of the suspect and organized surveillance. At around 11 PM that night, the man was successfully apprehended.
After interrogation, the man confessed. He explained that since he had previously rented a room in the house where Xiao Xu currently lives, he was very familiar with everything around and thought that stealing through the balcony would be easier, so he sneaked into the house without any fear.

It is known that Xiao Xu is a student at an art school studying painting for a long time. Therefore, it was not difficult for her to sketch the portrait based on the neighbor’s descriptions. The thief could not have expected to be caught so quickly, just 8 hours after committing the crime, and to be apprehended solely based on a drawing from this student.
