Recently, numerous Facebook accounts of celebrities such as Độ Mixi, U23 Vietnam football player Nhâm Mạnh Dũng, Phan Tuấn Tài… as well as Miss H’Hen Nie, Runner-up Phương Nga… have had their names changed to strange ones by hackers.

Although many accounts have verified badges, they still had their names changed, causing a stir in the online community. Recently, Hiếu PC spoke out about this issue:

“Regarding the issue of many influencers on Facebook, such as several football players and beauty queens, having their names changed recently.
It’s a warning for all Facebook users to avoid being targeted by malicious actors who change your name to something undesirable, which can affect your reputation and cause embarrassment… Follow these steps:
1/ Absolutely do not disclose the email you are using for Facebook on any platform.
2/ If it has been leaked, switch to a new email that is exclusively for Facebook use.
3/ Keep all sensitive identity information private, do not share sensitive information on FB or other platforms. Also, follow the additional security tips in the comments below.
4/ If your name has been changed without your consent, follow the guidelines in the comments.”
And here is how those accounts can regain control and their old name as shared by Hiếu PC in the comments when their names are changed:
“How to change back your name if it was changed by malicious actors without your control:
1/ For those who have just had their name changed within the last 48 hours, go to settings to revert to the old name.
2/ If it has been more than 48 hours, log into your account on a browser, then go to this link: https://www.facebook.com/help . Fill in your name, then upload the front of your ID, and your name will be approved within 1-24 hours.”
