The Hà Nam Center for Disease Control (CDC) reported on the night of May 1st that as of 9 PM that day, an additional 2 test samples returned positive for SARS-CoV-2 on the first test. Both individuals have been quarantined in accordance with regulations.
Thus, as of now, the total number of confirmed cases accumulated in Hà Nam province related to the outbreak in Quan Nhân village, Đạo Lý commune, Lý Nhân district is 12 cases.
This outbreak originated from patient 2899 – a young man returning from Japan, who, after completing a centralized quarantine in Đà Nẵng and returning to Hà Nam, tested positive for SARS-CoV-2. From this case, 15 others, including both F1 and F2 contacts in 3 provinces/cities: Hanoi, Hưng Yên, and Ho Chi Minh City, were also identified as Covid-19 positive.
Previously, the Hà Nam People’s Committee issued an urgent directive to strictly implement measures to prevent and control the Covid-19 epidemic in the area.
Specifically, to quickly and effectively control the epidemic, eradicate it completely, and prevent community outbreaks, the Hà Nam People’s Committee ordered a social lockdown for Đạo Lý commune (Lý Nhân district) starting from 1 PM on May 1st under Directive 16/CT-TTg dated March 31, 2020, of the Prime Minister.
Implementing social distancing measures and limiting gatherings in Bắc Lý commune and Chân Lý commune starting from 1 PM on May 1st under Directive 15/CT-TTg dated March 27, 2020, of the Prime Minister. Strengthening inspection and supervision of local implementation.
Halting the operations of restaurants, eateries, service activities, cultural and sports events, haircuts, hair washing, spas, and beauty services in Lý Nhân district from 1 PM on May 1st until further notice.
Proactively coordinating with health sectors, provincial police, provincial military command, and related units to quickly trace and eliminate the outbreak according to the Ministry of Health’s instructions. The provincial government also requested residents to temporarily halt wedding ceremonies, engagement parties, banquets, gatherings, and activities involving large crowds. Minimizing gatherings at funerals and strictly adhering to the 5K requirements.
It is mandatory for residents to wear masks when going out. The provincial police and localities will intensify checks and strictly handle cases of not wearing masks in public and violations of epidemic prevention regulations. Increasing widespread and timely information dissemination about the epidemic situation and preventive measures.
