The name Mr Beast is probably not too unfamiliar to many, especially those who are interested in the global YouTube community. Rising to fame after the competition between Pewdiepie and T-Series, Mr Beast is known as a “golden sponsor,” willing to spend hundreds of thousands of dollars to promote Pewdiepie. Recently, he gained even more popularity by creating a real-life Squid Game competition with prizes worth billions of VND. Even in his everyday vlogs, this guy isn’t shy about spending huge amounts of money, sometimes reaching millions of dollars to excite his viewers.

Being wealthy like that, it’s no surprise that during the celebration of reaching 100 million subscribers on his YouTube channel, Mr Beast made a shocking move that caught the community’s attention. Specifically, in mid-April, this YouTuber spontaneously organized an event gathering many participants, promising to give each participant $10,000 (about 230 million VND) every day. And the initial content of the challenge was relatively easy, as the players only had to stay in a room designated by Mr Beast.

However, the difficulty each day would increase, as Mr Beast would remove one item from the room every day. Subsequently, his game began to face more criticism, as some viewers believed it posed dangers to the physical and mental health of the participants. To put it simply, viewers feared that the participants, who had to stay alone in the room – almost in isolation, would encounter significant psychological issues. Furthermore, Mr Beast’s daily removal of an item also significantly impacted their daily lives.

However, there are also many opinions defending this YouTuber, arguing that receiving $10,000 a day should come with some challenges. The participants themselves likely have no complaints about Mr Beast. Notably, Josh, who endured this challenge for an entire month and walked away with $300,000, also spoke up: “I can assure you that there were people watching me 24/7. These people made sure I wasn’t in any danger, physically or mentally; they took care of everything. It was a great opportunity for me to relax a bit” – Josh said.
