A small action on the virtual network can disrupt your real-life at any moment. Sometimes, events occur beyond your control.
Recently, a beautiful girl named T. found herself in a similar situation. Just because of an innocent comment, she was victimized by news sites and fan pages that “stole her photos” to fabricate false information, affecting her personal honor. Because of this incident, T.’s life is currently in chaos.
The incident began when T. noticed a female character (whose face was obscured) in a post about a “sugar baby” looking for a “sugar daddy” that resembled her quite closely. She posted her own picture in the comments of this post to ask if others saw the resemblance.

However, disaster struck when T.’s image in the comments was taken by some fan pages to illustrate articles with other negative content. The peak of the situation was when there was a post claiming T. was a beauty queen engaging in sexual services for a fee of 50,000 USD, while T. is just an ordinary girl with no beauty queen title.

Currently, T. is extremely upset and she has publicly shared all the information and images that have been falsified, seeking to contact fan pages to remove her images. Internet users advise her to take decisive action to protect her personal image and to call for reporting the fan pages that spread false information.
Previously, in an article about many girls having their images and information stolen on Tinder and posted on adult websites, Lawyer Tran Xuan Tien, Head of the Legal Office of the Hanoi City Bar Association stated: “The act of using someone else’s images and personal information to post on harmful websites to defame others is illegal and should be condemned. Depending on the nature and extent of the consequences, the act may be subject to administrative penalties, civil compensation, or criminal prosecution.
At Point a, Clause 1, Article 5 of Decree 167/2013/ND-CP stipulates fines ranging from 100,000 VND to 300,000 VND for the act of “Having gestures, words that are abusive, provocative, or disrespectful to the honor and dignity of others.” In cases causing serious consequences, criminal liability for the crime of “Defamation” under Article 156 of the Criminal Law 2015, amended and supplemented in 2017, can lead to a maximum penalty of 7 years in prison.
Regarding civil liability, victims have the right to request the person providing false information to apologize, remove false information, and compensate for damages; if no agreement can be reached, they can file a lawsuit in a competent court.
