In every competitive game, rank may not fully reflect a player’s skill, but it serves as one of the bases for other players to evaluate your abilities. While not everyone at lower ranks is necessarily “bad at gaming,” negative perceptions are certainly unavoidable. It’s no coincidence that the term “noob”—which refers to players with poor skills—originated from the lowest rank in the game Gunbound. Recently, a beautiful streamer has perhaps understood this better than anyone else after being harshly mocked and belittled simply for dropping to Bronze rank in League of Legends.

The main character in this story is Seo Sae-bom, a fairly well-known streamer on AfreecaTV. With extremely beautiful looks, innocent like a high school girl, no one would think that she is already a 30-year-old streamer. In fact, as Seo Sae-bom stated, she is already married. However, that hasn’t caused her fans to turn their backs on her, as despite not being young anymore, her enthusiasm is still very high. Especially, the streamer plays games very energetically, particularly League of Legends. But it is also because of this game that the female streamer has recently found herself in a new predicament.

Of course, with her age, Seo Sae-bom’s hand speed and skills are not what they used to be. Therefore, it’s not surprising that she continuously dropped ranks in League of Legends, and most recently fell straight down to Bronze rank. One might think this is not too unusual, but recently, the online community was shocked by a post on a popular forum. Accompanied by images of the streamer’s rank, a League of Legends player, also Bronze rank like Sae-bom, unexpectedly shared: “It’s disgusting to think that she will be on the same level as us after dropping to Bronze. I don’t want to be judged as having skills similar to Sae-bom“.

This derisive post quickly received a lot of mixed opinions from the online community. The majority came forward to defend Sae-bom, while many others believed that rank reflects everything, and a Bronze-ranked player is still just a Bronze-ranked player, so there’s no need to compare or compete with each other.
