Couple Participates in Dating Show
After experiencing unfinished romances, T.H (36 years old) and K.T (30 years old) joined the dating show in hopes of finding a suitable partner and moving towards marriage.
The woman is an office worker in Ho Chi Minh City. She describes herself as emotional, caring, a good listener, and capable of cooking… though she can be a bit hot-tempered. After two relationships, the longest lasting seven years, she was disappointed because her boyfriend did not want to progress to marriage, leading to their breakup. After many years of being single, the girl decided to seek a boyfriend through the matchmaking program.
Meanwhile, the man works as a freelancer. He boasts his strengths as someone who can do housework, shop for groceries, and cook, and he doesn’t smoke or drink alcohol. He has had two relatively short relationships. He joined the show to find a girlfriend and move towards marriage.
Seemingly sharing the same views and relationship goals, the couple appeared to be on the right track. However, subsequent developments left both families disappointed.
Couple Engages in Heated Debate Over “Dating Expenses”
The man candidly admitted that in the past, he had been taken advantage of by his girlfriend, who often insisted he pay for meals. When he ran out of money, she turned her back on him. Thus, he is very wary of encountering someone like that again. Nevertheless, he confirmed that he has enough money to take care of his girlfriend, but if he lacks funds, he might ask her to chip in.
The woman disagreed. Her viewpoint is that a man of character would be generous regarding money matters. “You shouldn’t bring up the past to discuss dating expenses like that.”
The situation escalated when discussing who should pay during dates. The man surprised everyone by asking: “If we meet three times a week, and I treat you twice while you treat me once, would you agree? And if one of those outings costs too much, can we split the bill?”
The woman countered with, “Why should we split?”
At this point, seeing the heated argument, the host invited both parties to sit in the hot seat.
In the end, neither of them pressed the button to date. The man shared that he thought the woman didn’t press the button, so he didn’t either. The woman expressed disappointment, believing the young man lacked decisiveness, as he initially said he wanted to date her.
