If you are someone who regularly cleans and maintains your computer, you are probably familiar with thermal paste tubes. These tubes are often designed like syringes, making it convenient for you to squeeze out just the right amount of thermal paste for your CPU.
However, about two years ago, Cooler Master – a well-known name in the field of computer cooling products – decided to change the design of some of their thermal paste products. Instead of the familiar pointed syringe shape, they switched to a flat nozzle design as shown in the image below:

Surprisingly, the reason for this change is not to make spreading thermal paste on the CPU surface easier and more convenient as many people think. Recently, on their official Twitter, Cooler Master stated that they switched to the new design because they “got tired of having to explain to parents that their children are not using drugs.”

Whether Cooler Master is joking or not, if they are serious, it turns out that many tech-illiterate parents, while cleaning their son’s room, panicked when they saw them “storing” syringes in the room, which contained some suspicious paste, leading them to mistakenly believe that their child had fallen into addiction.

Currently, only three lines of Cooler Master thermal paste – Mastergel, Mastergel Pro, and Mastergel Maker – are using this new tube design. Whether this design is more effective and convenient than the traditional pointed syringe design is something that perhaps hardware experts should research and answer.
