Among them, with her adorable expressions and actions, Anya (the adopted daughter of spy Loid and assassin Yor) captured the hearts of all viewers from her very first appearance.
Although she planned to portray Anya, a Vietnamese female gamer boldly chose not to follow the “traditional path” and confidently cosplayed a mature version of Anya.
Completely contrasting with the cute little girl image, this fresh take has made a strong impression in a rather negative way among Spy x Family fans. Anya’s alluring, sexy portrayal sparked much debate. Alongside comments praising the female gamer‘s beauty, there were also plenty of dismissive remarks expressing concern about breaking the original character’s essence.
In response to the negative comments, the creator of this cosplay shared an image and stated that she transformed into this bolder version of Anya. She emphasized that she did not intend to flaunt her assets or “overdo” the cosplay to gain interactions.
Responding to constructive criticism from her followers, she explained some cosplay mistakes that might lead to misunderstandings. However, she also acknowledged that it was difficult to avoid unwanted reactions because of the community’s pre-existing biases from a previous unsuccessful transformation.
