On the afternoon of May 20, in Ho Chi Minh City, the Vietnam computerized lottery company (Vietlott) held a ceremony to award over 192 billion VND to a lucky customer in Ho Chi Minh City who won the Jackpot 1 Power 6/55 in draw number 423.
According to information on Tuổi trẻ newspaper, previously, the Vietlott branch in Ho Chi Minh City had received the Power 6/55 ticket from Mr. H.N. After checking the technical system along with the accompanying documents, Vietlott confirmed that the winning ticket was for Jackpot 1 of the Power 6/55 product in the draw held on May 12.
The prize value is 192,141,839,100 VND. The ticket was purchased at 14 Xô Viết Nghệ Tĩnh, Ward 19, Bình Thạnh District, Ho Chi Minh City.

Speaking with a reporter from Lao động newspaper, Mr. H.N mentioned that he bought the Vietlott lottery ticket for fun and had only recently started playing. Regarding the lucky numbers, he said he bought them randomly as the machine selected them and only checked the results when he saw news about this jackpot in the papers.
Despite winning a huge jackpot, Mr. H.N stated that he felt “normal” upon learning the news and affirmed that “until I see the money, I can’t believe it” because previously he played just for fun and didn’t know if it was real.
Going to claim the prize alone, Mr. H.N revealed that he is still keeping it a secret from his wife and kids and has no intention of telling them right away, as he wants to wait a while to gauge their reactions. According to him, “testing women with gold, testing men with women” so he won’t rush to share this news.
Although he won a substantial amount, Mr. H.N confirmed that he will continue with his current job and believes that his life will not change too much; he also plans to donate 500 million VND of his winnings to charity.
Additionally, according to information from An ninh Thủ đô newspaper, Mr. N. currently has no plans and mentioned that he will spend time online to “research how to spend money” while still maintaining his daily work.
According to the regulations of the Ministry of Finance, Mr. H.N is obligated to pay personal income tax in the locality where the winning ticket was issued (Ho Chi Minh City) immediately after claiming the prize (a tax rate of 10% on the prize value).
Thus, Mr. H.N is the second highest lottery winner of Vietlott and also the second highest in the Vietnamese lottery industry. According to regulations, Mr. H.N will pay approximately 19.2 billion VND in personal income tax, meaning the actual amount he will receive is about 173 billion VND.
Previously, in May 2019, Vietlott awarded a record prize of 304 billion VND to a player from Hanoi.
