A film that is currently attracting attention is Kiều @ – a cinematic work directed by Đỗ Thành An, featuring Cao Thái Hà and Phan Thị Mơ. Centered around the story of a girl forced into prostitution, the film Kiều @ contains many disturbing scenes and angles with a high level of physical contact. After releasing the trailer, many viewers collectively called for a boycott of the film, demanding it be banned from screening.

Nevertheless, the film was released in theaters on February 26 and grossed nearly 500 million VND during its opening weekend. Many reviews of the film have begun to appear, with most considering it a “disaster” for the country’s cinema.
Notably, the official fanpage of the film recently posted images of viewers crying while watching Kiều @. There wouldn’t be anything noteworthy if the caption of the post didn’t state, “Watching Kiều @, sometimes viewers see themselves, their loved ones, and their families somewhere in it.” But where will we see ourselves when this is a film about sex workers and prostitution?

It can be said that Kiều @ is a film that has generated controversy because everyone agrees that the quality of the film is very poor. The work was produced under the label “one-shot” (filming continuously from start to finish), yet it still shows clear signs of editing. Many of the film’s sexual scenes are also criticized as purely sensational, vulgar, and lacking artistic intent.
