Leyou Technologies, the holding company that owns Digital Extremes (the developer of Warframe) and Splash Damage (the developer of Gears Tactics), has just halted trading on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange and announced that it will be acquired. This announcement (see more here) does not specify which company is involved, but Leyou has been considering this since 2019; among those interested in acquiring Leyou are iDreamsky and Sony.

According to a report from Bloomberg, Tencent has also “joined the party” and is nearing a deal with Leyou. Recently, Leyou Technologies confirmed that it will enter into an exclusive agreement with Tencent regarding the acquisition and privatization. It is evident that Tencent is expanding its power, with well-known names like Epic, Supercell, Fatshark, Funcom, Grinding Gear Games, Paradox Interactive, and Riot all fully owned by Tencent. Additionally, this company has invested in Yager (Spec Ops: The Line), Bluehole (PUBG), Ubisoft, Activision, and Frontier. To learn how Tencent became the largest gaming company in the world, you can refer to this link.

Recently, Tencent also released a demo video for a new game called SYN. According to the introduction of the video, the developers of this game will be Lightspeed and Quantum Studios, and it will use Unreal Engine. This will be an open-world, first-person shooter for both PC and console platforms. Moreover, the design style of SYN is quite similar to the upcoming blockbuster from CD Projekt Red, Cyberpunk 2077.
