The internet is filled with zombie websites – for example, forums where most users have long since abandoned ship, or unique sites that their passionate creators no longer care about. However, there is one website created with the mission of not accepting such aimless existence.
Called This Website Will Self-Destruct, this site will literally erase itself permanently, leaving only a single error message, if no one posts any content within 24 hours.

Unlike many modern feature-rich websites, this site is a simple web page with an editing frame that allows you to send a message to it or read a random message posted by someone else and click the “heart” button for that post.
Additionally, the website displays a countdown timer from 86,400 seconds. If it reaches 0, its database – containing all the messages sent and the website itself – will be completely deleted.
This website was created by the Twitter account FemmeAndroid, who is also the author of a comic series about a transgender woman in a science fiction world. According to FemmeAndroid, this self-destructing site has received around 15,000 messages sent in the past week and has been viewed approximately 1 million times. On average, each message has been viewed 91 times.

And these are not just ordinary messages. You can find unrequited love declarations, jokes about video games, or heartfelt thanks for the existence of such a unique website. If you encounter a sad message from someone going through a tough time, you can click the “Feeling Down?” button, and the website thiswebsitewillselfdestruct.com will display contact information for organizations that can help.
Perhaps one of the motivations for the website’s existence in the current climate is that many people are stuck at home due to the Covid-19 pandemic. This has led many to want to share their feelings somewhere and then forget about them without any worries. Perhaps when this pandemic is over, the existence of this website will no longer be necessary.
