“Selling Myself” Status to Borrow Millions Sparks Outrage in Online Community
Recently, the story of a young man working in game development has deeply moved the online community as he seeks to borrow a significant amount of money for his mother’s stage 4 lung cancer treatment.
In his post, Le Giang Anh mentioned he needed money for his mother’s treatment and was willing to sell his skills and abilities in exchange for a loan ranging from 300 million to 1 billion VND.

“My mother has had stage IV lung cancer for over 2 years. Initially, the treatment with immunotherapy showed promising results, but we ran out of money and had to stop the medication for over 3 months, causing her condition to worsen. I have sold all my assets (including our house in the countryside) and borrowed money beforehand. I have thought many times before writing this post, and I truly have no other options left,” Le Giang Anh shared.
Sitting in a rented room on Dang Van Ngu Street (Ward 10, Phu Nhuan District), Le Giang Anh revealed that his family has faced deadlock for over 2 years since discovering his mother had malignant lung cancer.

He vividly remembers December 1, 2017, the moment he received the diagnosis that Mrs. Bui Thi Minh (70, his mother) had a malignant lung tumor that had metastasized… he felt frozen in shock.
“At that moment, I had no thoughts left; I dropped everything, all the projects I was working on, to be with my mother. But then everything exceeded my own limits,” Le Giang Anh shared.
Two treatment regimens were outlined, but due to the low probability of response and effectiveness of chemotherapy, he decided to choose immunotherapy (specifically, Keytruda) with a cost of over 120 million VND per infusion. Each infusion is spaced 21 days apart, continuously for 2 years if the medication responds well.

Selling the house, borrowing from friends, utilizing all possible connections, and working day and night with the hope of keeping his mother alive, for over 2 years, Le Giang Anh has held onto one thought: he must save his mother at all costs.
But “it’s been 3 months now, and I can’t hold on any longer; my mother’s condition is getting worse as we have stopped treatment, only maintaining chemotherapy to keep her alive. At this point, I have nothing left but my mother; I can only plead with the community to help me borrow a large sum of money to treat her,” Le Giang Anh expressed emotionally.
I owe my mother too much; without her, my life would mean nothing!
Born into an incomplete family, Le Giang Anh grew up enveloped in the love and care of his elderly mother, who is now 70 years old. Having a sense of independence from a young age, combined with a passion for game development, Le Giang Anh is known as a capable game employee with 5 years of experience at a French company, specializing in: Product Development, Business Development, Marketing, Growth Hacking, General Management…

However, consecutive misfortunes struck Le Giang Anh after he faced startup failure and then discovered his mother had stage 4 lung cancer.
“All my plans had to be set aside; I traveled with my mother to various hospitals in Vietnam tirelessly for 2 years. We have sold everything, and I have borrowed from friends and acquaintances, now there is no money left, but I have never stopped thinking about continuing her treatment. I owe my mother too much; without her, my life would mean nothing,” Le Giang Anh choked up.
Le Giang Anh reported that according to the latest test results, his mother’s condition is deteriorating, and the chemotherapy has become ineffective. Sharing information on Facebook is like his last glimmer of hope in the journey to save his mother’s life.

“Now I no longer care about anything; I must do everything for my mother. Every effort I have made so far has been for her. If I had thought about stopping treatment, I would have done so long ago. I still believe that I have the ability to work and repay debts, which is why I posted ‘selling myself to borrow money.’ Honestly, right now, I only care about my mother’s illness; as long as she is alive, I will overcome any difficulties,” Le Giang Anh shared.
Perhaps for Le Giang Anh, everything in life would become meaningless if his mother were no longer there. As her only hope, he understands the struggles and sacrifices she made to raise him, and he has set aside everything to pursue the journey of saving her life. For many, this journey may never reach a destination…

“My mother is also very sad; she keeps saying to let her die so I can have less suffering, but I always encourage her, trying to change her mindset. I tell her, ‘You need to be healthy so I can have the motivation to work and repay debts.’ Now, my mother is much more optimistic. I must keep trying; I won’t allow myself to give up,” Le Giang Anh said.
Faced with his mother’s worsening condition, Le Giang Anh hopes he can “sell myself” to secure a large loan and return to the initial treatment regimen (currently the cost has dropped to over 80 million VND per infusion). This is also his last hope to see his mother wake up each morning…
In light of Le Giang Anh’s moving story, we hope for a miracle to come his way, allowing him to borrow a significant amount of money to continue treating his mother. Anyone interested in supporting Le Giang Anh can reach out via phone: 0989777701. Thank you very much!
