Recently, social media has been abuzz about “Jonathan Galindo” – a dangerous figure who will force you to participate in the “Blue Whale challenge” or your family will be assassinated.

The online community in Mexico is buzzing about the Jonathan Galindo account. If you haven’t used Instagram, TikTok, Twitter, Facebook, Discord… for a while, when you log back in, you’ll encounter “this thing”. It will add you, then send you a link that, when clicked, will reveal your home IP address. Then it gives you two choices: participate in the Blue Whale challenge (do something stupid that could lead to death) or your family will be assassinated.

Two years ago, the world faced the Momo challenge, and even earlier, the Blue Whale challenge – extremely dangerous “games” targeting youth. Many have fallen into these challenges. Starting from simple tasks like saying something to parents or friends, to spreading rumors, self-harm, and suicide. About ten young teens have completed this challenge and lost their lives, including a 13-year-old boy in Belgium.
The “Blue Whale challenge” appeared in 2016 or earlier, requiring participants to follow assigned “missions” and has caused over 130 deaths in Russia. This challenge gradually spread to other countries, resulting in even more deaths.
While the global online community is “panicking” about Jonathan Galindo, on June 3rd, a Twitter account named Dusky Sam spoke up and acknowledged that the avatar image of the Jonathan Galindo account was theirs:

Dusky Sam is a mask producer. In a recent Twitter post, this person admitted that the image of Jonathan Galindo is their creation. The photo and video of Jonathan Galindo were made between 2012-2013 for fun and not to scare or bully anyone.

Currently, after this character gained attention, many imitation accounts have sprung up like mushrooms, with hundreds of Jonathan Galindo accounts appearing on Twitter, Instagram, TikTok… including numerous accounts from Vietnamese users.
Of course, this Jonathan Galindo character is not real; it is merely a mask product. However, some have used Jonathan Galindo for malicious purposes, so it is always best to be cautious.
