In addition, this platform allows players to experience mods that may enhance the graphics of once-celebrated masterpieces. Now, let’s take a look at the top 10 RPGs with the best graphics on PC.
SEKIRO: SHADOWS DIE TWICE
This game has already become legendary, breaking all limits of difficulty and relentlessly challenging players, yet it has been received with great enthusiasm: Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice. Truly, From Software has excelled in creating a game that has surpassed heavyweight competitors like Death Stranding by the genius Hideo Kojima or Control by the legendary Remedy, becoming the best game of 2019. With its unique and creative combat mechanics, players must adjust their posture and balance against bosses, not only to inflict damage but also to land a decisive blow that could finish off the opponent. All of this is adorned with graphics designed to be mysterious, enchanting, and gloomy, inspired by the Samurai era of Japan. The grandeur of the lengthy mountain ranges, the “chill” feeling when facing enemies on endless fields, and the stunning and impressive combat effects from both characters and bosses make it a standout title on this list.
THE WITCHER 3: WILD HUNT
After all these years, every time I launch The Witcher 3, I am still amazed by its truly beautiful graphics. This game was once the benchmark for system requirements for a reason; it was ahead of its time by several notches. The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, the third installment in the Witcher series adapted from the acclaimed novel by Andrzej Sapkowski, was released in 2015 and has since become a monument in the RPG genre. The Witcher 3 is beloved for its captivating storyline and numerous choices, alongside its impressive RPG mechanics set in a vast and detailed world. However, for me, the graphics of this game are the most special aspect; at the time of its release, its graphics were unmatched by any AAA game. The scenes of riding through cities, forests, and storms are beautifully and vividly designed. The boss battles are also grand and impressive, and if you are familiar with The Witcher’s combat, combining skill effects with attacks creates even more visually stunning finishing moves. It has created a legend that remains a “timely” blockbuster if you have never experienced this masterpiece.
ASSASSIN’S CREED ODYSSEY
One of the versions that brought a fresh breeze and truly revived the Assassin’s Creed series, reducing the stealth kill aspect a bit and adding more intense boss fights. The Greek world of Odyssey can be said to be one of the best open worlds across all games I have experienced, with majestic mountains, crystal clear seas, giant sharks, and bustling cities, playing it feels like traveling through Greece. The scenes of sailing out to sea while gazing at the land from afar have probably become the trademark of this game. Of course, Odyssey is not just about looks; the unique character-building RPG gameplay, along with exciting gear and skill progression, has created an engaging experience for many players. It’s not an exaggeration to say that this is perhaps one of the best versions of the franchise.
DARK SOULS 3
The game Dark Souls 3 is truly legendary; its extremely challenging gameplay has become the hallmark not only of the Dark Souls series but also of the developer From Software. The gameplay revolves not only around boss fights but also allows players to build their characters according to their preferred playstyle. The bosses in Dark Souls 3 are extremely iconic, instantly recognizable due to their difficulty. The game’s dark graphic design helps players focus more on gameplay but inadvertently causes them to overlook its inherent beauty; the battle scenes, if observed closely, are very eye-catching and grand, with weapons designed in great detail and precision, even telling part of the story behind the world of Dark Souls. It’s just that players are too focused on battling monsters to notice. Of course, the gameplay is the highlight of this game, but the graphics of Dark Souls 3 are not to be underestimated.
MONSTER HUNTER: WORLD
One of the best online games of all time with outstanding monster-hunting gameplay and, of course, graphics that cannot be criticized. Released in 2018, it quickly became one of the hottest games of the year and subsequently won the award for Game of the Year. The monster-hunting mechanics with various customizations allow players to set traps, paralyze, or form teams to hunt large monsters. As a monster-hunting game, the graphics must be impressive to convey the grandeur, and that’s exactly what MH delivers. The different environments in the game provide an excellent experience for players, from dreamy and mysterious jungles to vast and distant beaches, even to the new Ice Age world, which players adore. To this day, MH remains one of the most played online games across PS4, Xbox, and PC, still a masterpiece even after more than two years since its release.
THE OUTER WORLD
The Fallout game has become a legend in the gaming world, and the team at Obsidian Entertainment is responsible for developing that legend. The Outer Worlds, developed by Obsidian, also carries the DNA of that famous game but with a more appealing and detailed RPG mechanism, in my opinion. The storyline is what impresses me the most in this game, set in a futuristic, sci-fi world where corporations combine and gain absolute power, planning to send humanity off Earth with the promise of a better life. However, it’s all a ruse, and you will be one of the people standing up against this secret. Looking at the graphics of The Outer Worlds, you will notice some similarities to Fallout, with a similar design but feeling more like “No Man’s Sky” mixed with a bit of Borderlands, following a 3D animated style that creates breathtaking planets rivaling Hollywood movies. The beautiful open world is also a plus that makes The Outer Worlds beloved, along with stunning effects that leave players in awe during intense combat scenes.
KINGDOM COME: DELIVERANCE
If realism is what you are pursuing, then Kingdom Come: Deliverance is an unbeatable choice. The first-person perspective brings liveliness and realism; the character’s stats and skills develop based on what the character says or does in the game… very realistic, and the graphics are built in a realistic style. With the goal of providing realism to players, along with a large and detailed open world, you can fully “live” in Kingdom Come: Deliverance and become the best warriors of the Bohemian war period. You even get to visit real-life locations and experience a “tour” of these places when they still have the scenery of ancient times, making it an incredibly enjoyable experience.
DIVINITY: ORIGINAL SIN II
Divinity is a game series often “debated” as the best RPG of all time due to its highly engaging and captivating coop gameplay. You can join friends, choose characters with different strengths, and build your characters together to fight through challenging levels. The combo skill experiences together will be peak experiences that you and your team will surely lose sleep over. Using a top-down perspective, but the graphics of Divinity: Original Sin II still provide the most grand scenes possible, from lava-filled backgrounds to dark tombs, all conveyed through detailed graphics and beautiful effects, creating a delightful experience from both gameplay and stunning visuals.
NI NO KUNI 2: REVENANT KINGDOM
Developed by the long-standing Japanese game company Level-5 and published by the giant Bandai, Ni No Kuni immerses players in a dreamy, colorful world, along with various characters with different personalities. You can complete assigned quests to progress in the storyline, alongside the beautiful and expansive world of Ni No Kuni that you can explore, which helps the game gain popularity. The distinctive graphics of this game are love at first sight, using Japanese anime style, a result of the collaboration between the legendary Studio Ghibli and Level-5, alongside the game giving off a very “Nintendo” vibe, though humorously, this game has yet to appear on that platform. The graphics and world of this game are impressive, but the feeling of combat against monsters in the game truly delivers an impressive and satisfying experience that will surely delight Japanese game enthusiasts.
FINAL FANTASY XV
When it comes to Japanese games, Final Fantasy must be mentioned; if we exclude the remake version, FFXV is the latest installment in this legendary series. This time, players will join Noct’s adventures in the vast world of Eos, and if this is your first experience with FF and you know about the recently popular FFVII remake, then the fifteenth version will offer a much more varied experience. The settings are abundant, with a vast world for you and your team to roam, stunning graphics that make driving luxurious cars on distant roads with an amazing soundtrack feel better than ever. The combat gameplay is impressively engaging if that’s what you like, and of course, the game’s storyline is as excellent as ever, making it a worthy investment even today.
SKYRIM V
Skyrim is probably no stranger to gamers; this legendary RPG remains a solid monument representing this extremely engaging genre. The diversity in class distribution along with the captivating character-building mechanics, the expansive world filled with countless activities ensures that players will always have an inseparable experience while playing this game. Although the graphics of Skyrim may seem a bit outdated compared to modern games, at the time of its release, it certainly ranked among the top games with beautiful graphics. Nevertheless, Skyrim is still favored by gamers today due to the game’s modding capabilities; many skilled modders have managed to “buff” the graphics of Skyrim to make it feel more “timely.” If you want to experience this legend with “Remastered” graphics, then mods will be the effective solution.
These are the RPGs with the best graphics currently available; there are certainly more top names that I haven’t listed in this list. So please comment below with your favorite game for everyone to check out!
