For many, especially those from the early 80s and 90s generation, the manga series Doraemon seems to have become an indispensable memory of childhood. As the home of Doraemon, the online community in Japan is also extremely fond of the adventures of the robotic cat along with friends like Nobita and Shizuka… However, recently, the animated series about Doraemon in the land of cherry blossoms has unexpectedly faced numerous protests, with the reason being that there are too many controversial images that tarnish the innocence of children, and the most condemned element is none other than Shizuka – the most notable female character of the work.

Accordingly, whether intentionally or unintentionally, the author duo Fujiko.Fujio has woven in quite a few details and images of Shizuka bathing without clothes, whether standing or lying in the tub without any covering. In fact, according to some statistics from devoted fans, the female character has been caught by her friends in super revealing scenes over 1,000 times. This has led many to believe that this detail is being overused and unnecessarily spammed.

And this has led to a significant number of parents in Japan recently gathering on a website to collect signatures, demanding that the producers of the Doraemon animated series cut most of the scenes featuring Shizuka bathing – elements that are not closely related to the storyline. In fact, they even describe themselves as “growing up with Doraemon” while currently allowing their children to watch the series and have set forth five main demands.

Specifically, they demand the removal of scenes where other characters catch Shizuka bathing in the new episodes, as well as the complete removal of images of nudity of female characters in the film, including Shizuka. Moreover, even scenes of peeping at Shizuka bathing or actions of peeping at her underwear or beneath her skirt should also be cut. As of now, this protest has attracted thousands of participants and is aiming to reach a total of 5,000 signatures.
