The CFS Funspark Asian Cup can be seen as a rare opportunity to test the waters at the international level before countries enter the most important tournament of the year, CFS 2021, for the global Crossfire community. In this tournament, Vietnam had 2 representatives, along with 2 from the Philippines and 4 from China.
After the group stage from July 28 to August 2, only 4 teams advanced to the finals: EDWARD GAMING, LAST LEGENDS, EVOLUTION POWER, and ALL GAMERS.
In the finals held from August 3 to August 5, under a double elimination format, LAST LEGENDS faced early difficulties as they fell into the loser bracket alongside EDWARD GAMING. However, with years of experience in high-level international competitions, the members of LAST LEGENDS remained calm and managed to rally back from the loser bracket. They overcame EDWARD GAMING and only stopped at the match against the runner-up ALL GAMERS.
The final results of the CFS Funspark Asian Cup are as follows:
• Champion: EVOLUTION GAMERS (China) with a prize of $12,000
• Runner-up: ALL GAMERS (China) with a prize of $9,000
• 3rd Place: LAST LEGENDS (Vietnam) with a prize of $5,000
Although the CFS Funspark Asian Cup is a mid-year friendly tournament, it also serves as an opportunity for representatives from various countries to test their mettle at the international level. Through this achievement by LAST LEGENDS, we can draw many conclusions. The most important of which is that LAST LEGENDS, in particular, and Crossfire Vietnam, in general, made an extremely impressive comeback on the international stage.
Despite a long journey of several years being “frozen” in both domestic and international competitions, the veteran players of LAST LEGENDS and the Crossfire Esports community have shown that they are not “rusty” at all. Overcoming 2 out of 4 representatives from the top powerhouse in the Crossfire world, China, and both representatives from the Philippines in their first return is an extremely impressive result.
