As video games continue to be recognized as an art form on par with cinema, the portrayal of characters has become increasingly complex. While there are characters that gamers adore, or even wish to marry, there are also faces that send shivers down your spine at just a glance.
Here is the second part of the top 10 scariest characters in video game history that will leave you trembling. I hope it provides you with some interesting insights.
All NPCs – Harry Potter And The Philosopher’s Stone / Chamber Of Secrets (PS1)
Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone on the PS1 is a beloved adventure game that many cherish. This third-person adventure game lets you ride a broomstick to satisfy your wildest imagination. It’s also a part of the childhood of countless gamers.
However, one thing is quite clear: the budget for character design was all spent on Harry Potter. As a result, the other NPCs (non-player characters) at Hogwarts look incredibly grotesque.

Neville Longbottom looks like a reptile that has lived in a cave for too long, while Hagrid resembles a blobfish from the deep sea. Quite disturbing, indeed.
These characters should look more like… people, but due to the limited hardware power of the PS1, they end up looking very grotesque, if not downright haunting. There’s no denying that this game is very interesting, but it’s best not to play it at night if you don’t want to lose sleep.

Ooccoo – Legend Of Zelda: Twilight Princess
In short, Ooccoo is a bird with a head and body resembling that of a human. In addition, Ooccoo has red eyes capable of peering into the soul and stealing the memories of the main character.
In the game, this creature is part of the Oocca species, and the character Ooccoo in Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess is a female. However, any gamer who encounters this creature will be filled with dread.

Ooccoo is a companion to the main character Link, helping him “warp” in and out of dungeons with ease. However, with a look like that, initially, not many gamers would think of Ooccoo as a friend but rather assume it’s a villain sent by the antagonist Ganon to cause chaos and eliminate Link. Worse still, Ooccoo’s children have no body, merely tiny pale heads with red eyes and wings attached.

The Master – Fallout series
A mutated monster with an appearance that is hard to describe, the character Master will haunt gamers’ minds after their first sight. His body is a grotesque combination of multiple humans and various mutants. His voice sounds like a mechanical sound and a digitized sample.

Previously, Master was a resident of Vault 8 named Richard Moreau but was expelled due to suspicion of murder. He then had to find a new shelter and eventually became a doctor at The Hub, about 400 miles from Vault 8. However, Moreau was later attacked by a group of mutants while exploring and fell into a tank containing the Forced Evolutionary Virus (FEV).

After a week of struggle, Moreau finally freed himself from the chemical tank. However, he was no longer the doctor Moreau he once was; he had transformed into a monstrous entity known as Master with a grotesque appearance. Rather than panic at his hideous form, Master felt he was a perfect entity and began commanding his minions to capture humans and force them into the FEV tanks for experimentation.
The process of absorbing and merging mechanical systems with living organisms has turned him into the hideous and repulsive monstrosity he is today, half human, half machine, half mutant.
Monstro – The Binding Of Isaac: Afterbirth
To be honest, any boss from The Binding Of Isaac: Afterbirth deserves a spot on this list. However, the most deserving is certainly the boss Monstro – a grotesque head that knows how to… smile.

What makes players feel the most uneasy is his mouth, which not only has a cleft lip but also a goofy grin with missing teeth. Moreover, Monstro will spit out red attacks from his mouth, sometimes jumping into the air, disappearing, and then attacking players from above unexpectedly.

Although Monstro is not a particularly difficult boss: He moves very slowly, is easy to predict, and his attacks are not special nor highly damaging, his “charming” smile has a high potential to haunt those players who have encountered him.
The Moon – Legend Of Zelda: Majora’s Mask
The moon will crash into the land of Termina within 3 days, and only when some miracle (or the main character Link) occurs can the situation be salvaged. The sentence you just read describes the harsh urgency faced by the world in Majora’s Mask.

Players have a total of 3 days to complete everything possible to prepare for the impending collision; otherwise, everything in Termina will be completely wiped out. It sounds pretty terrifying, but if you’ve experienced this game, you’ll know that there’s an even scarier detail. That is the moon we have to face, which has an extremely ugly face filled with craters. Not to mention this face is glaring at us and sporting a very cheerful smile.

Having only 3 short days to prepare everything is already stressful enough; now the game forces us to witness the ugly, pockmarked face of the moon crashing into Termina. Quite unbearable…
