Nearly Two Weeks Without Sleep Livestream
Randy Gardner – the current Guinness World Record holder for staying awake for a total of 264 hours for a scientific study. After that, he experienced serious health complications and struggled with insomnia for a long time. Wanting to break this record and set a new one, the 19-year-old YouTuber Norme entered the fray. He openly undertook the risky challenge of “continuously livestreaming for 264 hours and 24 minutes.” Although Norme got closer to the world record, the achievement was no longer recognized.

The Risky Livestream Journey
Specifically, with 1.2 million followers on YouTube, Norme became the center of attention with the daring challenge of staying awake for 264 hours and 24 minutes to livestream. During this period, Don, Norme’s brother, had to repeatedly help the YouTuber stay awake by splashing water on his face and even forcing Norme to stand up.

Many viewers were also worried, commenting that Norme should stop the challenge as his health showed signs of deterioration. Some even reported to the police out of concern for his safety. Near the end of the livestream, an ambulance and police car were stationed outside the young man’s home. Ultimately, the broadcast was halted when Norme began to show signs of fainting, experiencing hallucinations, and his speech became incoherent.

Norme’s YouTube channel has now deleted the livestream that lasted 12 days.
Sharing about this crazy challenge, medical experts stated that sleep deprivation can pose serious health risks. Those staying awake for such extended periods may face complications such as communication issues, impaired judgment, reduced memory, decreased attention, diminished vision and hearing, reduced hand-eye coordination, tremors, and muscle tension.
