In the world of online gaming, stories of scams are becoming more sophisticated and dangerous than ever. Recently, an incident involving a 13-year-old gamer from Guangxi, China sent chills through the online community. She almost lost nearly 1 billion dong because she believed the instructions from someone impersonating a police officer while playing an online game.
Specifically, the female gamer was playing on her mobile phone at home when she suddenly received a message. The person claimed to be a “local police officer of the city” and said that this girl was suspected of being involved in a scam related to online gaming. This individual demanded that she immediately transfer money to a “safe account”, or she would face legal consequences.

Under the threat from the opponent, and while she was in the midst of playing an online game, the girl quietly took her mother’s mobile phone, hid in the bathroom, changed the passwords for WeChat and her bank card as instructed, and transferred over 40,000 yuan (approximately 143 million dong). Just as she was about to transfer the remaining amount of 250,000 yuan from her mother’s bank card to the scammer’s account, the account owner discovered the situation.
She immediately called the police. After receiving the information, the local police acted immediately, proceeding to halt the payment as soon as possible and successfully recovering the cash from the girl’s mother’s card.

This incident is just one of many scams occurring through online games. Many gamers have been deceived, becoming victims when trading accounts through untrustworthy websites, leading to financial loss. Therefore, players need to be extremely cautious when participating in these activities. Do not trust announcements on social media. Do not transfer money to others when you do not clearly know who the account owner is, where they are located. Regularly check and update security features and privacy settings on networks and accounts used; do not provide personal information or bank account details to strangers…
This incident serves as a wake-up call for the community, especially young gamers, about the potential dangers when participating in online games.
