Female TikToker involves children in harmful content
Social media in general and the platform TikTok in particular have recently become a “stage” for many content creators to showcase themselves. However, there are still many inconsistencies regarding the content that appears on this popular platform.
Being a well-known TikToker with nearly 2.5 million followers, T.C grabs attention every time she posts a clip. Her content revolves around family life and entertainment activities among family members. However, her two latest clips have left viewers “stunned” due to their somewhat inappropriate content.
Specifically, set in a karaoke bar, using a parody song, T.C and her siblings reenact the lyrics:
“Call the staff here,
Find a sexy one
Hold an extra bottle of Whisky
Remember to add a manly one
No, no, oh my
Is anyone brave enough to play this bet?
Just sit still, sir
If you’re not playing, let someone else play
Yes, here’s my staff
This girl looks very Western
Her singing voice is mesmerizing
Electricity and water just keep flowing”…
This video not only violates social ethical standards but also affects the innocence of children. Such inappropriate content is even more dangerous as it can impact the healthy development of children. Currently, children do not fully understand the consequences of consuming and sharing this type of content, but it will certainly complicate the education of young people in the future.
Social media platforms have been and are making efforts to create policies to limit inappropriate content, but it remains a significant challenge
Alongside well-produced videos that are carefully crafted with professional content and visual and audio effects, many TikTokers seek to “bait views” with harmful, nonsensical products…. Compared to professionally invested and carefully crafted videos, “dirty” videos often do not require much investment in knowledge, do not take much time to process the video… so they are easy to execute and are chosen by many TikTokers.
There needs to be close collaboration between relevant parties: regulatory agencies, content creators, user communities,… for the issue of limiting inappropriate content to be effective. Here, adults also have a significant responsibility in supervising and guiding children to use social media safely. This supervision should not only include monitoring children’s online activities but also combine education on protecting themselves from unhealthy information.
Many harmful videos are rampant on social media.
Everyone, from creators, viewers to platform operators, needs to take responsibility for the content they create to ensure safety and build a healthy online environment for everyone, especially children.
