Yuki Murai, 27, is an office worker based in Tokyo. He is described as quiet and reserved, rarely socializing at work.
About six months ago, a beautiful administrative assistant joined the company where he works. This colleague quickly became popular for her sweet appearance and gentle personality. After meeting her at a company dinner, Murai started texting her about personal issues.
She replied a few times out of politeness but eventually stopped responding. This led Murai to believe she was playing with his feelings. He developed an unexpected intention.

One late night while working overtime, Murai rummaged through his colleague’s bag when she was temporarily absent. He found her house key, took a photo of it, and noted the manufacturer’s details and key code. He then contacted an online key duplication service and requested a copy. Murai began tracking the woman’s daily habits and discovered that she often went jogging in the evenings.
Seeing this as an opportunity, he sneaked into his colleague’s apartment, exploring her bedroom, living room, and bathroom. Over the next few months, Murai broke into her home at least 20 more times, stealing her clothes as souvenirs. He also took over 300 photos, saving them on his phone, capturing images inside her house, her clothes on the sofa, and even water stains on the bathroom mirror.
The woman became suspicious after noticing her clothes had been moved and strange footprints on the floor. She contacted the police and installed hidden cameras in her home, which caught him in the act.
According to Asahi Shimbun, Murai stole six items during his last break-in, including clothing, a handbag, and a surveillance camera valued at approximately 15,000 yen (about 2.7 million VND). Tokyo police stated that Murai could face charges of theft and illegal entry.

He told the police that he never intended to harm the female colleague but only wanted her to feel his presence instead of ignoring his messages.
The incident has sparked outrage on social media. Users commented: “This is terrifying. The devil could be right next to you. Those who seem normal can create the darkest obsessions”; “The government should tighten regulations on key duplication services before unpredictable stories like this happen”;…
