After going through two romantic relationships that didn’t lead anywhere, Thanh Vinh (28 years old, from Hue), who currently works as a workshop manager, decided to join a dating show in hopes of finding a suitable partner. He outlined his ideal girlfriend’s criteria as having fair skin, long hair, a “slim” figure, and being affectionate towards family members. He describes himself as hardworking and diligent, though he is picky about food and finds it hard to interact with strangers.

Introduced to match with him is Ha Giang, a young woman currently working in human resources. She is cheerful, sociable, and enthusiastic but not skilled at cooking. Ha Giang hopes her partner will be someone mature, good-looking, responsible, honest, not domineering, non-smoking, and non-violent. “I like a boyfriend who is 1.7 meters tall, not too fat or too skinny, and has a bright face,” she shared.

The conversation went smoothly, receiving many warm looks from the audience, who enthusiastically “shipped” the couple. Everything seemed perfect until the moment the guy asked the girl to make an effort to give birth to a “heir.” The young man expressed:
“I want to have a son to relieve the pressure on you. In a family, there should be both a son and a daughter. If we have a daughter first, the neighbors will have something to say, so we must aim for a son,” the main male character candidly shared. When asked what if he couldn’t have a son, he replied: “If we try for a third child and still don’t get one, then that’s it. Three is enough.”

After hearing his comments, many viewers felt that he was too hasty, lacking tact, and had outdated thinking, while others argued that being straightforward isn’t necessarily bad. Meanwhile, the girl, who just met him but was already discussing sensitive topics, blushed and seemed somewhat disagreeable with his views. She also responded without hesitation:
“Whether it’s a girl or a boy, they are both my children, and I have a responsibility once they are born. I also hope my boyfriend can empathize and share responsibilities, especially being honest and caring for the family. I think we should only have two kids.”
Although there was a bit of tension, after this light debate, the couple still decided to give each other a chance and get to know each other better for a while longer.
