TikTok is known as one of the most popular entertainment platforms today. Not only in Vietnam but globally, TikTok has achieved numerous successes in both revenue and download numbers. It has also become a launching pad for many young people, helping famous TikTokers become key opinion leaders (KOLs) in various fields.
However, with benefits come drawbacks; TikTok also harbors many issues that concern and condemn society. One of these is the presence of negative content that even goes against social morals and ethics. The primary goal of these clips is nothing more than to “gain views” and increase interaction with viewers.
To achieve the objective of maximizing viewer numbers, many TikTokers have created unhealthy content. Some clips even contain content of a degenerate nature. Surprisingly, even famous TikTokers participate in contributing, scripting, and acting in these clips.
For example, recently, a verified TikTok account created two clips containing inappropriate content. Viewers watching this clip can easily associate it with the ’18+ exchange’ trend that was condemned not long ago for being contrary to the morals and culture of Vietnam.
In these two clips, there are even faces well-known among young people. This has made viewers feel outraged and believe that such content needs to be vehemently condemned. Because these clips could potentially create negative repercussions for viewers, especially younger audiences.
In the comments section, there are many opposing comments, showing the outrage of many viewers towards such ‘dirty’ content. To gain views, many TikTokers are willing to construct a series of degenerate scripts without considering the potential consequences. This is the issue that TikTok has caused and is still causing for its viewers, even though it is known that the app still contains much wholesome content. However, the dirty content has made viewers feel repulsed by TikTok, forgetting those who are trying to create ‘clean’ content for this platform.
