According to experts, there are 4 malicious apps discovered on the Play Store that contain a type of trojan capable of spreading ads and directing users to scam websites.
Unlike many previous adware, this trojan has a completely new attack method. Experts state that the trojan will not activate for 72 hours after the user installs the app to avoid attracting the victim’s attention.
“The delay in attack behavior is a tactic used by hackers to avoid detection. After the initial period, these malicious apps will automatically open scam websites in the Chrome browser. Some scam websites are designed to make money through each ad click, while others contain greater dangers” – emphasized an expert from Malwarebytes Labs.
The malware not only consumes users’ mobile data when opening ad websites but also significantly affects the battery life of the phone as this malware continuously operates in the background for a long time.
The list of 4 apps containing malware discovered by Malwarebytes Labs security experts includes:
– Bluetooth Auto Connect (about 1,000,000 downloads)
– Bluetooth App Sender (about 50,000 downloads)
– Driver: Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, USB (about 10,000 downloads)
– Mobile transfer: smart switch (about 1,000 downloads)
If you have installed one of these apps, you need to uninstall them from your phone immediately.
