With the advancement of technology, being a shipper has become one of the quite popular jobs and attracts a large number of participants. From students, office workers, to even those who used to be traditional motorcycle taxi drivers, they all join new tech-based ride-hailing companies. However, it seems that many of us still do not have the right perspective on this job. For many, being a shipper is a job that has no future, regardless of how high your income might be.

Recently, Chinese social media was abuzz with a post about this very issue. Specifically, a girl took to Weibo to publicly share a chat with her boyfriend, expressing her frustration and inability to accept that her boyfriend is doing a “food delivery” job—one that requires no education and cannot guarantee her a bright future, even though the reality is that her boyfriend’s income is three times hers. It is known that, despite being a food delivery driver, he can earn up to 15,000 yuan a month (approximately 50 million VND), while it’s unclear what the girl does, but her income is only around 4,000 yuan (approximately 13 million VND).

Accordingly, the girl expressed great concern about the future of the two, especially when the boy, despite earning a stable income, is just a shipper. Therefore, she felt frustrated and worried about how to explain his job to her parents. Indeed, bringing her boyfriend home and introducing him as a shipper would likely not win the approval of her parents. One can empathize with her thoughts on this matter.

Subsequently, the boy explained that he had no connections or qualifications to earn money in other ways at this time, then tried to distract her by inviting her to eat and shop. But it seems this tactic was unsuccessful.

It appears that the boy has no intention of quitting his current job. And rightly so, considering that even as a shipper, he earns up to 50 million a month. In fact, he even promised that after six months, he would earn more than half a billion, and then, if he wanted, he would open a small business to secure their future. However, it seems this still did not satisfy the girl.
After posting the entire chat, the girl sought the opinions of the online community about whether she should break up with her boyfriend. Although further details about the argument were not disclosed, it is likely that everyone understands the boy’s fate is unlikely to be positive. Saying that a man is like a boat navigating twelve rivers is not wrong; earning three times more than his girlfriend yet still facing complaints and rejection is indeed unfortunate. However, some opinions suggest that the girl’s perspective is completely reasonable and realistic given today’s society.
