In the world of Nine Yin Manual, perhaps wandering alone is good, as it prevents others from bothering you, allowing you to think about yourself. But… Isn’t it better to have friends, teammates, to overcome events, forces, and even forbidden areas together, sharing your knowledge about the game, life, and both joys and sorrows?
Nine Yin Manual is where I found friends and companions who always stand by my side, both in the game and in life, and most importantly, I found someone who truly loves me.
I met him in Nine Yin, perhaps by chance, or perhaps by fate. He played a female character, and he tried to create an innocent image, so my first impression of him was “a lovely, cute girl”. He often let his character follow mine, occasionally teasing me to help me forget the weariness of real life.
Before, I could only contact him in the game, but one day, I accidentally found his Facebook. After chatting for a while, he made me realize that he was not a girl, but very mature and composed.
After a short time texting, he told me that I understood him, so he considered me a close friend, a soulmate. However, I could only watch him from afar and got closer only when there were no others around. But one day, a notification appeared on the screen saying he got engaged, and I was stunned. I didn’t know what I felt at that moment, only that something hurt a lot, something uncomfortable. I tried to act like I was fine, trying to seem normal, but I limited myself, avoiding him whenever I logged into Nine Yin.
It was truly fate; no matter how much I tried to hide, I still had to run into him a few times. I met him on the bridge near the place where I first stood next to him on the Chengdu map, and he agreed to be my brother in arms. From that day on, he not only texted me on Facebook but also practiced fighting with me, guiding me on how to play, and often wanted me to be with him, by his side. He told me I was important to him because I understood him, always stood by him, and if in the future, I didn’t get married, he would still be by my side, taking care of me, even if I only saw him as an older brother.
Although I don’t know if he was serious or joking, hearing this made me very happy. With our sworn brother-sister relationship, he brought me to his side, helping me build my character, teaching me how to fight in detail and navigate through forbidden areas. He dedicatedly and patiently guided me on everything he knew, not only in Nine Yin but also cared for my real-life outside the game.
He is like a friend, a brother, and even more like a teacher, not just a virtual friend. Just like that, he took the initiative to meet me. Since meeting him, just because of a message “I’m here” ten minutes early, and a smile as soon as I arrived instead of a greeting, I think… I have developed feelings for him, but I know he likes someone else, so I buried those feelings deep inside, not letting him know, nor worrying about it, because I’m afraid if he knew, then even being friends would become impossible between us.
Nevertheless, I still teased him and sang for him. But perhaps the old saying is true, “Where there’s smoke, there’s fire”; being by each other’s side, going together every day, talking and sharing many things gradually made him develop feelings for me too. His previous engagement ended due to some unhappy circumstances, and he told me he would like to engage with me, but to be honest, he still wanted to hold a wedding in the game with me, but since we both played female characters, it couldn’t be realized; we could only engage.
Until that moment, I still didn’t dare to think too much, simply wanting to be by his side, doing the things we both wanted, that was enough, so I only teased back “if you want, consider this a wedding ceremony”. Surprisingly, he agreed, and even the name of our engagement, he let me choose. The day he took the initiative to propose, my heart felt like it exploded; I cried tears of joy because I felt his sincerity. He didn’t use flowery words, just simply asked, “Will you be my girlfriend?” but he always looked straight into my eyes, not glancing elsewhere, and looking into his eyes, I saw my reflection in them.
This was also the first time I felt “so there is someone who wholeheartedly cares for me, being sincere with me feels this happy?” He and I formed a guild together; he said he wanted me to help him manage the guild, but he also didn’t want me to think too much; he just wanted me to be happy and joyful with him. Everyone regarded him as the leader, listened to him, but I felt that because he guided and led, this world of Nine Yin was no longer too difficult, not too vast, and because he worked hard to arrange everything, our guild felt like a small family. And I cherish, truly cherish those feelings, his feelings for me, and the feelings of everyone in the guild.
Games may be virtual, but human emotions are always real. You talk to someone, even if it’s in a game, you have to resonate to continue the conversation. Therefore, if you are sincere, you will get a response. I do not know what my future will be like, nor do I know how my feelings for the guild, for my second family will change, and I don’t know how his feelings for me will evolve, whether he will love me more or drift away from me. But one thing I know is that, in the present, I cherish and will forever keep these moments. Because these will be the most unforgettable memories I have ever had.
