A Canadian female streamer with over 100,000 followers has stirred controversy by claiming that spicy noodles caused her to “perforate her stomach.”
According to media reports, on August 26, an internet star from Canada named “Wasim” with over 100,000 followers claimed that spicy noodles “burned her stomach” and threatened to sue to have instant noodles removed from the Canadian market.
Previously, she described herself as a “spicy noodle fanatic” and stated that she was addicted to this dish, consuming it at least three times a week. On July 31, she uploaded a video showing herself lying in a hospital bed. She asserted that her stomach was “burned” due to the long-term and frequent consumption of this ultra-spicy instant noodle. She was diagnosed with a severe stomach ulcer.

The most shocking part was not her hospitalization, but her subsequent actions. The female streamer suddenly posted on social media, harshly criticizing the noodle producer for creating a product that is “too dangerous” for consumer health. She argued that the producers should be held accountable for the consequences she has to endure. Not stopping at mere criticism, the female streamer demanded significant compensation, amounting to “millions of dollars,” for the harm to her health and career.
On August 16, the female streamer officially announced she would file a claim for an enormous compensation of 15 million Canadian dollars against the noodle producer. However, she continued to eat noodles even after being diagnosed with a stomach ulcer and suing for 15 million dollars. She did not hide her feelings: “I really love noodles, but I love 15 million dollars more.”

The actions of the female streamer have faced strong opposition from the online community. Most believe her demands are unreasonable and ridiculous.
This is because overconsumption, especially of spicy foods, has long been known to be harmful to the stomach. The female streamer actively engaged in this behavior, even being aware of the risks to gain views, so she should be the one to take primary responsibility. Additionally, many believe this is a blatant “extortion” tactic aimed at attracting attention and making money illegally. She put herself at risk to earn money from donations, and when faced with the consequences, she blamed others.
However, a small number of people argue that the producer should also bear some responsibility. They argue that if the product is as “dangerous” as she claims, clearer warnings should be provided, although, in reality, these products already have warnings regarding their spiciness to some extent.
As the situation escalates, the producer has recently responded. A representative stated that her accusations are “baseless” and that there is no lawsuit against this noodle brand.
The female streamer’s “extortion” not only caused her to lose respect from the community but also severely damaged her own reputation. The line between creativity and recklessness is very thin, and once that line is crossed, the price to pay may not only be monetary but also involve her career and the trust of her audience.
